Job summary

MLC in Saint Louis, MO is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to design and implement reliable power, automation, and process control systems for our large lime facility. You will help improve plant performance and safety through robust electrical solutions.

You will lead electrical and process control projects from concept through startup, collaborate with Process Engineers to optimize control strategies, and ensure instrumentation standards meet safety and efficiency goals across capital

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; equivalent experience.
  • 5–10 years in electrical engineering, preferably in industrial manufacturing/automation.
  • Experience managing engineering or capital improvement projects.
  • Experience with electrical system design, industrial controls, and PLC/HMI programming.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across organizational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical and process control projects from concept through startup and commissioning.
  • Develop and manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Design, program, and optimize industrial control and automation systems.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineers to improve process performance and control strategies.
  • Evaluate, specify, and implement instrumentation and control technologies.
  • Support power distribution projects, including system studies and capacity assessments.
  • Coordinate installation activities with internal teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Maintain and update electrical drawings, standards, and technical documentation.

About the Job

Design and implement reliable electrical power, automation, and process control systems that improve plant performance, safety, and operational efficiency in support of capital projects.

  • Lead electrical and process control projects from concept through startup and commissioning.
  • Develop and manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Design, program, and optimize industrial control and automation systems.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineers to improve process performance and control strategies.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably within industrial manufacturing, process controls, or automation environments.
  • Experience managing engineering or capital improvement projects.
  • Experience with electrical system design, industrial controls, and PLC/HMI programming.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Rockwell Automation hardware and software platforms.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and communication protocols.
  • Experience with AVEVA/Wonderware software applications.
  • Computer-aided drafting (CAD) skills.
  • Knowledge of power distribution system analysis, including energy flow, arc flash, and capacity studies.
  • Strong presentation, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement process control strategies and instrumentation standards.
