Daikin Applied is hiring an Electrical Engineer II in Plymouth, MN for a hybrid role. You will research and develop specifications and designs for controls hardware, transformers, VFDs, motors, and related components within Daikin’s chiller products.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, 3+ years of power electronics experience, and 2+ years in an Agile environment. Hybrid work arrangement and strong benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of power electronics experience in design, power distribution, VFDs, and motors.
• 2+ years experience in an Agile development environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specifications for power electronic equipment used on chiller equipment.
• Develop test and qualification plans for power electronic equipment.
• Review test data to evaluate suitability and performance.
• Support cross-functional project progress meetings.
• Assist in corrective actions to solve quality problems.
• Ensure UL safety certifications compliance for manufacturing and testing.
• Collaborate with subassemblies of electrical equipment supporting controls products.
• Design electrical motors, control motors, and systems for commercial/industrial uses.
• Design test control apparatus and determine testing methods.
• Support manufacturing, installation, and operation testing per specifications and customer requirements.
• Use CAD/CAE tools and simulations for engineering tasks.

Daikin Applied is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to research and develop functional specifications, technical designs, and support for the controls hardware, transformers, filters, VFDs and motors within the Daikin Applied Chiller products.

Your Responsibilities

• Prepare specifications for power electronic equipment to be used on Chiller equipment
• Prepare test and qualification plans for power electronic equipment
• Review test data from power electronic equipment to evaluate suitability and performance
• Support cross-functional meetings to review project progress
• Support corrective actions to solve quality problems
• Support activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operation testing conform to UL safety certifications
• Work directly with the subassemblies of the electrical equipment supporting controls products.
• Design electrical motors, control motors, electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, domestic and internal purposes
• Design test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products
• Support activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements
• Support operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field and internal installations
• Use computer assisted engineering and design software and simulation to perform engineering tasks

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of power electronic experience required in power design, power distribution, VFD's, electric and control motors. 2+ years working in an Agile development environment
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

• Experience in the HVAC industry
• 4+ years of power electronic experience

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $74,200 - $124,300 in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
