Job summary

Daikin Applied, a leading HVAC innovator, seeks an Electrical Engineer II to develop specifications and designs for controls hardware, transformers, filters, VFDs and motors in chillers. Hybrid role based in Plymouth, MN with responsibilities across design, testing, and field support.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field and 3+ years in power electronics, plus 2+ years in an Agile environment. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of power electronic experience in power design, power distribution, VFDs, electric and control motors.
  • 2+ years working in an Agile development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare specifications for power electronic equipment to be used on Chiller equipment.
  • Prepare test and qualification plans for power electronic equipment.
  • Review test data from power electronic equipment to evaluate suitability and performance.
  • Support cross-functional meetings to review project progress.
  • Support corrective actions to solve quality problems.
  • Ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and operation testing conform to UL safety certifications.
  • Work with subassemblies of the electrical equipment supporting controls products.
  • Design electrical motors, control motors, electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, domestic and internal purposes.
  • Design test control apparatus and equipment, and determine methods and conditions for testing.
  • Support activities to ensure that manufacturing, installation, and operational testing conform to requirements.
  • Support operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field and internal installations.
  • Use computer aided engineering and design software and simulation to perform tasks.

Electrical Engineer II - Plymouth, MN - Hybrid

Daikin Applied is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to research and develop functional specifications, technical designs, and support for the controls hardware, transformers, filters, VFDs and motors within the Daikin Applied Chiller products.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Prepare specifications for power electronic equipment to be used on Chiller equipment
  • Prepare test and qualification plans for power electronic equipment
  • Review test data from power electronic equipment to evaluate suitability and performance
  • Support cross-functional meetings to review project progress
  • Support corrective actions to solve quality problems
  • Support activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operation testing conform to UL safety certifications
  • Work directly with the subassemblies of the electrical equipment supporting controls products.
  • Design electrical motors, control motors, electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, domestic and internal purposes
  • Design test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products
  • Support activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Support operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field and internal installations
  • Use computer assisted engineering and design software and simulation to perform engineering tasks
Your Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of power electronic experience required in power design, power distribution, VFD's, electric and control motors. 2+ years working in an Agile development environment
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Your Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the HVAC industry
  • 4+ years of power electronic experience

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from$74,200- $124,300 in Minnesota. The range displayedrepresentsthe pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
