Job summary

ROI Agency in Houston seeks an Electrical Engineer II to design and analyze electrical power systems and substations within a design team. You will develop technical documents including BOMs, specifications, and drawings under supervision.

The role requires a BSEE from an ABET‑accredited program, 2–6 years of experience in electrical substations, and FE certification. Excellent communication with clients and teammates is essential.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited BSEE required.
• 2–6 years of electrical power systems experience.
• Electrical substation experience required.
• FE Exam passed; NCEES record a plus.
• IEEE participation encouraged.
• Knowledge of ANSI/IEEE/NEMA/NEC/NESC standards beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Creates designs under supervision of a Senior Engineer.
• Provides guidance to designers and drafters.
• Specifies major equipment (generators, transformers, breakers, switchgear).
• Ensures quality of design packages and equipment.
• Prepares drawings including one-line diagrams, protection/schematic drawings and interconnection plans.
• Performs power flow, short‑circuit, device evaluation, coordination, harmonic analysis, arc‑flash hazard assessment.
• Acts as company representative in communications with clients, suppliers and coworkers.
• Takes ownership and responsibility for each project.

Position Overview

An Electrical Engineer II develops, designs, and analyzes electrical power systems and substations. The engineer works within a design team to create all technical documents including bills of material, specifications, and design drawings.

Responsibilities

• Creates designs under supervision of a Senior Engineer
• Provides technical guidance to designers and drafters
• Specifies major equipment such as generators, transformers, circuit breakers and switchgear
• Controls quality of specified equipment and design packages
• Supervises production of technical drawings such as one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, interconnection drawings, equipment arrangement plans, section views, grounding plans, conduit plans, cable tray plans and all associated installation details
• Performs electrical studies such as power flow, short‑circuit, device evaluation, device coordination, static and dynamic motor starting, harmonic analysis, ground grid analysis and arc‑flash hazard assessment
• Acts as a company representative and manages correspondence between clients, suppliers and coworkers
• Takes ownership and responsibility with each project
