Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to join the Mechatronics Engineering HMI development team. This role leads design, development and leadership of vehicle components, wiring, power distribution, and control systems for production and service.

The position is onsite in Gaffney, SC with a starting salary range of $86,000 to $110,000 USD and a comprehensive benefits package including annual bonus, 401k with company match, paid vacation and holidays, extended parental

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Automotive Engineering or 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes and downstream impacts.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Project).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Develop and design advanced vehicle components and systems.
  • Interface with engineering personnel to determine effective design and materials.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external suppliers during development and testing.
  • Research state-of-the-art developments in the vehicle industry and apply advances.
  • Apply statistical and engineering techniques and use programming/modeling with analysis.
  • Ensure vehicle designs meet government regulations and codes.
  • Collaborate with Test and Validation to address prototype issues and propose solutions.

Electrical Engineer II
Inside the Role

This posting is for a Mechatronics Engineering design, development & leadership role in the Mechatronics Engineering HMI development team. The roles and associated responsibilities are focused on the development of advanced vehicle components, wiring, power distribution, and control systems. This position manages mechatronics engineering projects to support production and service.

Successful candidates will apply the theoretical principles, engineering techniques and practical experience towards designing vehicles that are safe, compliant, reliable, serviceable, energy efficient, competitive and use the latest technology available in the industry.

Position offers a starting salary range of$86,000 - $110,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, andexperience.

What You Drive at DTNA
  • Develop and design advanced vehicle components and systems. Apply theoretical principles and engineering techniques in designing a vehicle that is reliable, serviceable, energy efficient, competitive, and uses the latest technology available in the industry.
  • Interface with engineering personnel to determine the most effective and economic design and materials to be used in product parts.
  • Interface and coordinate with multiple internal departments and external suppliers in the product development and testing phases.
  • Research state-of-the-art developments in the vehicle industry and apply the latest advances.
  • Apply statistical and engineering techniques in designing and testing. Use programming and modeling techniques in conjunction with mathematical analysis.
  • Interface with product regulation and compliance personnel to design vehicles that meet government regulations, restrictions and codes.
  • Interface with the Test and Validation team to analyze problems encountered in prototype development and testing. Provide creative and technically feasible solutions.
Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Bachelor's degree with focus in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automotive Engineering from an accredited college/university required or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills, including cross-functional collaboration is required
  • Understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes & downstream impacts
  • Project Management
  • Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Project) is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • 5 years of related experience preferred
  • Experience developing and releasing commercial vehicle electrical systems and controls to production
  • Full understanding of CAN message formatting & network topology requirements for the serial control and communication networks typically used in today's heavy-duty vehicles (CAN)
  • Experience and understanding of medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicle electrical systems, and controls
  • Experience and understanding in automotive infotainment and instrumentation
  • Working knowledge of CAD system electrical workbench.
  • Working knowledge of DTNA Engineering Documentation systems.
  • Working 3D design experience
