AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to join our Buildings + Places team in Arlington, VA. You will develop electrical designs for diverse projects and build expertise under senior engineers, contributing to high-performance new construction and renovations.

You will create 3D models in Revit, produce 2D drawings in AutoCAD, and perform SKM analyses (short circuit, TCC, arc flash, voltage drop) while ensuring code compliance and coordination with other disciplines.

Competenze

  • BS in Electrical Engineering +2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience designing electrical power distribution and lighting systems for commercial, institutional, or government facilities.
  • Experience with modifications and upgrades to low-voltage electrical systems (480V and below).
  • Familiarity with electrical analyses, including: Load calculations, Short circuit studies, Arc flash studies, Voltage drop calculations.
  • Experience using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the projects.

  • Support project delivery activities under the direction of project managers and senior technical staff.

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a motivated and talented Electrical Engineer II to join our Buildings + Places team in Arlington, Virginia. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of high-performance new construction and renovation projects across multiple market sectors, including federal and government facilities, mission critical and data centers, transportation, commercial, industrial, healthcare, laboratory, educational, residential, and recreational developments.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the design and delivery of innovative electrical systems while developing your technical expertise under the guidance of experienced senior engineers and project managers.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will:

  • Develop electrical designs for a variety of building and infrastructure projects.
  • Create and maintain 3D electrical models using Revit and prepare 2D drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Perform electrical system studies using SKM, including:
    • Short circuit and fault current analysis
    • Time-current coordination (TCC) studies
    • Arc flash analysis and labeling
    • Voltage drop calculations
  • Apply client standards and project requirements while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Conduct field investigations and assess existing site conditions to support renovation and modernization projects.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • BSin Electrical Engineering +2 years of relatedexperienceor demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience designing electrical power distribution and lighting systems for commercial, institutional, or government facilities.
  • Experience with modifications and upgrades to low-voltage electrical systems (480V and below).
  • Familiarity with electrical analyses, including:
    • Load calculations
    • Short circuit studies
    • Arc flash studies
    • Voltage drop calculations
  • Experience using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam, or active pursuit of professional licensure.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel approximately 15-20% as required
  • Experience inbuilding systems and facilities engineering.
  • Desire to learn and grow in the preparation of electrical design and construction documents.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable NFPA standards.
  • Experience supporting federal, Department of Defense (DoD), and commercial facility projects.
  • Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and other federal design standards.
  • Experience performing coordinated multidisciplinary building design projects.
  • Understanding of project budgets, schedules, and construction constraints.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software such as: SKM ETAP AGi32 Revit AutoCAD Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver complete, accurate, and coordinated design packages on schedule and within budget.
