Job summary

AECOM in San Diego, CA, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings + Places team. You will support electrical design from concept through construction, contribute to decarbonization and renewable energy initiatives, and gain field experience through occasional site visits.

The successful candidate will have a BS in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with 4+ years in consulting or design-build, Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD, and strong communication and teamwork

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related field +4years of related experience.
  • ABET accreditation and FE exam preferred.
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • 4+ years electrical engineering experience within consulting or design-build.
  • Strong communication skills: articulate, assertive, and confident.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical engineering support from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancy.
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Support in the review of shop drawings during the construction administration phase
  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
  • Write reports and memos for internal and external purposes based on findings
  • Works cooperatively with managers and other employees to achieve company's mission
  • Develops designs within a BIM design environment
  • Completes assigned engineering and design tasks in accordance with client specified criteria and applicable codes and standards

Job Summary/Responsibilities

  • Electrical engineering support from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancy
  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Support in the review of shop drawings during the construction administration phase
  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
  • Write reports and memos for internal and external purposes based on findings
  • Works cooperatively with managers and other employees to achieve company's mission
  • Ensures discipline plans that are created meet overall project team requirements for project scope, quality and schedule
  • Stays current on codes and technologies appropriate to the electrical disciplines
  • Support on site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components and materials for projects
  • Develops designs within a BIM design environment
  • Completes assigned engineering and design tasks in accordance with client specified criteria and applicable codes and standards

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related field +4years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an ABET accredited University and has passed the fundamentals of Engineering Exam (EIT/FE)
  • Strong experience with Revit and AutoCAD based design projects
  • 4+ years of electrical engineering experience within a consulting or design-build firm
  • Strong communication skills: articulate, assertive, and confident
  • Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills
  • Desire to be mentored by leadership.
  • Experience with sustainable design
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy/quality of work.
  • Proficient in the use of drafting software including Revit and AutoCAD
  • Power system studies experience utilizing SKM, ETAP or Easy Power.
  • Lighting calculation experience with Visual, AGI32 or Elumtools.
  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard Microsoft software.
  • Ability to work with and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team
