Job summary

Brunswick Boat Group in Edgewater, FL is seeking an Electrical Engineer to research, develop and implement electrical systems for all products. You will design panels, harnesses, and AC/DC systems, ensuring compliance with ABYC/IOS/CE standards and manufacturing efficiency.

The role requires 3–5 years of electrical product design experience, CAD proficiency, and a drive for continuous improvement. Travel about 10% is expected; relocation may be considered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • 3–5 years electrical product design with manufacturing/production experience
  • CAD experience with AutoCAD/Unigraphics/SolidWorks/Capitol/Catia/Pro/E preferred

Responsibilities

  • Define requirements and component specifications for electrical panels, wiring harnesses and electrical systems
  • Design main, distribution, switch and instrument panels for AC and DC electrical systems
  • Ensure and/or acquire component and system compliance with industry standards
  • Update electrical and electronic system designs for customer convenience and production plant labor reduction
  • Update current product to incorporate new technologies and features to meet consumer expectations
  • Conduct product research on electrical and electronic equipment and components
  • Interface with propulsion and project groups for system layouts
  • Generate engineering drawings for updated designs and approve all electrical prints for boat release to production
  • Create and validate load calculations based on ABYC/IOS/CE and Australian standards for AC and DC electrical systems
  • Determine shore power configuration and generator size (120-V, 240-V, 50/60 Hertz)
  • Determine grounding and galvanic protection requirements for AC and DC electrical system
  • Determine battery and charging system requirements for DC electrical systems
  • Provide technical expertise to project groups and ensure consistency between all group electrical documentation
  • Supports Manufacturing and Customer Service on issues resolution
  • Generate Engineering Change Notices (ECN) as required
  • Drive implementation of ECNs as needed
  • Build or rework prototype and production harnesses as needed
  • On floor support of prototype builds
  • Perform incoming inspections on electrical components, panels, and harnesses as needed
  • Install, test, and troubleshoot AC/DC electrical circuits, components or systems to ensure proper operation
  • Troubleshoot production and field opportunities using root cause methodology
  • Review and approve owner’s manuals for accurate and complete electrical descriptions and information
  • Work with suppliers on the development of electrical systems and components to ensure continuous improvement in quality and value
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Attain ABYC certification in all electrical categories
  • Perform final electrical design verification tests
  • Maintain direct interface with Brunswick companies to ensure consistency throughout the organization
  • Ensure timely completion of all phases of project
  • Apply Voice of the Customer and systems engineering input to designs
  • Willing to travel (minimum 10%)

Position Overview

As part of the talented Brunswick Boat Group Design team, you will be responsible for researching, generating, developing and implementing electrical systems for all existing products. This will include use of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools to ensure designs are robust and manufacturing friendly. These systems must meet all necessary internal quality and supplier requirements and be executed in the most cost-effective manner. Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical experience required
  • 3‑5 years of electrical product design experience with knowledge of manufacturing/production processes
  • Computer Aided Design experience: AutoCAD, Unigraphics, SolidWorks, Capitol, Catia or Pro E preferred
  • 3‑D modeling skills desirable
  • Experience with multiplexing/digital switching, telematics, and marine electronics desirable
  • Knowledge of standards applied by the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC)
  • Boating experience is desired
  • Commitment to quality and standards that are accepted by the industry
  • Must interface well with other employees and departments throughout Brunswick as well as outside vendors, dealers and retail customers
  • Must be able to work extra hours required to ensure timely completion of critical projects
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft office applications
  • Problem solving and decision-making abilities
Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated pay range for this position is $59,000 to $85,000 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
