Shield AI is seeking an entry level Electrical Engineer to contribute to X-BAT avionics development. You will own a project tied to the critical path, receive mentorship from senior engineers, and work across cross-functional leads on full lifecycle engineering from concept to manufacturing.

The role emphasizes first principles thinking, responsibility, and collaboration in a high‑tech defense context. A degree in electrical engineering is required.

Qualifications

• Have a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with electrical design software such as Altium, KiCAD.
• Ability to obtain a S//SAR level security clearance desired.

Responsibilities

• Own design work that ties directly to the X-BAT avionics system and flight test milestones.
• Full lifecycle ownership: concept, design, verification, integration, flight test, and manufacturing.
• Design for embedded systems: analog, digital, power conversion, high-speed, FPGA, MCU, EMI/EMC.
• System integration and verification.
• Environmental test, qualification, and automation.
• Debug, root cause, and drive resolution.
• Designs must withstand radiation, extreme temps, and high vibration.

Its products include the V‑BAT and X‑BAT aircraft, Hivemind Enterprise, and the Hivemind Vision product lines. We are building the best team in aviation to drive rapid development and deployment of X‑BAT.

We are looking for an entry level Electrical Engineer that is ready to help us bring X‑BAT to first flight. You will own a project that ties directly to our critical path avionics development while receiving directly mentorship from Senior Electrical Engineers and other cross‑functional leads. Our team looks for engineers that value first principles engineering and extreme ownership.

• Own a design that directly impacts the X‑BAT system and major flight test milestones. A senior engineer is assigned as a direct mentor to provide technical review and professional feedback.
• Full lifecycle ownership: concept, design, verification, integration, flight test, and manufacturing.
• Design efforts include circuit design for our embedded system: analog, digital, power conversion, high‑speed, FPGA, MCU, EMI/EMC, etc.
• System integration and verification.
• Environmental test, qualification, and automation.
• Debug, root cause, and drive resolution.
• Systems must be designed for high‑reliability, radiation resistance, aggressive temperature changes, and high‑magnitude vibration.
• Have a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong technical fundamentals.
• Have been part of an engineering team or club.
• Experience with electrical design software such as Altium, KiCAD, etc.
• Ability to obtain a S//SAR level security clearance desired.
