RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking an Electronics Materials Failure Analysis Engineer to support the Electrical Engineering section in diagnosing and evaluating electronic materials and devices from simple passives to complex microcircuits.

The role requires a Bachelor's in EE or Materials Science, hands-on use of lab equipment, and ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance. This on-site position offers challenging work in aerospace and defense, with relocation eligibility.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Materials Science.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment (DMM, curve tracer, parametric analyzers, multimeters, megohmmeters).
  • Academic experience with microcircuits, active and passive components, or related materials.

Responsabilidades

  • Analyze electrical components via visual photo-documentation, testing, non-destructive and destructive analysis.
  • Document results in detailed reports for traceability.
  • Operate lab equipment such as microscopes, oscilloscopes, LCR meters, and X-ray systems.

The Electrical Engineering (EE) Section of the Materials and Process Engineering Department is seeking an individual to fulfill the role of Electronic Materials Failure Analysis Engineer. This position supports the EE section in its mission of performing electronic materials failure analysis and component evaluation. The devices submitted for analysis range from simple passive devices to complex, custom microcircuits as well cables, connectors, magnetics and electro-magnetics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analysis of electrical components such as: visual photo-documentation, electrical testing, non-destructive troubleshooting, environmental testing, x-ray evaluation, destructive physical analysis (DPA) including decapsulation and/or cross-sections
  • Detailed documentation of results
  • Learn and operate laboratory equipment such as: microscopes, oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, LCR meters, curve tracers, semiconductor parameter analyzers, signal generators, megohmmeters, bond tester, X-Ray, Scanning Acoustic Microscope, and others.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Material Science (with an emphasis on electronics) obtained upon start date.
  • Experience with electrical test equipment such as; DMM, curve tracer, parametric analyzers, multimeters, megohmmeters, etc.
  • Academic experience with microcircuits, active & passive electrical components, or other electrical components and materials.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Familiarity with component data sheets and drawings
  • Technical working knowledge of electronic component parts and their application
  • Knowledge of electrical schematics and circuit analysis
  • Data collection and presentation skills to write a cogent report, supporting the analysis conclusion and if necessary, present the data and findings
  • Ability to effectively work parallel analyses
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
