Job summary

Amrize in North America is seeking an Electrical Engineer I to oversee plant electrical maintenance at the Midlothian Cement Plant TX. You will supervise technicians, implement preventive and predictive maintenance, and ensure environmental compliance while maximizing equipment reliability.

You will work with PLCs, process control systems, and documentation in SAP, with on-call rotation and a strong emphasis on safety. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Field of Study: Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Strong experience with SAP, AutoCAD, Project and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise electrical and instrumentation technicians on daily work orders and projects.
  • Develop and implement electrical maintenance programs including data collection and analysis.
  • Manage electrical schematics documentation and spare parts inventory.
  • Ensure control systems meet environmental compliance.
  • Maintain master equipment files and regulatory compliance records.
  • Evaluate and upgrade process control equipment for reliability.
  • Provide training on control systems to plant personnel.
  • Troubleshoot control hardware and software issues.
  • Support equipment/process modifications to reduce costs and improve safety.
  • On-call rotation and uphold health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Electrical Engineer is responsible of all electrical maintenance activities at the plant. Ensure electrical project work is completed is a safe, efficient and timely manner and in compliance with environmental requirements and to work in a cooperative manner to plan, schedule and execute all control system activities in the plant in order to maximize equipment utilization and reliability.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Responsible for supervising the electrical and instrumentation technicians in the execution of daily work orders and projects assigned by the maintenance coordinator. The engineer is responsible for assigning the work to their crew, insuring the work is performed both timely and correctly and the work history is recorded in SAP.
  • Electrical preventive and predictive maintenance programs. This includes conducting systematic inspections on all plant electrical equipment, collection of quantitative data, its organization and analysis using a variety of traditional as well as technically advanced diagnostic tools. The electrical engineer shall assess the condition of the process and machinery accurately, assess risk and identify the appropriate corrective actions based on technical analysis and risk management.
  • Responsible for the accurate documentation of electrical schematics and stores spare parts inventory.
  • Ensure all system programming meets with proper environmental compliance.
  • Maintain system documentation including but not limited to master equipment files, regulatory compliance files, equipment specifications, and repair history
  • Evaluate computer control equipment and their components to assure they meet the plant requirements.
  • Define, write and implement changes to existing process control programs.
  • Provide control system training and guidance for plant personnel.
  • Troubleshoot control system hardware and software problems.
  • Participates in defining, developing and executing equipment and process modifications to improve reliability, reduce costs and/or improve safety. Provide electrical knowledge and support for plant maintenance and PLC control projects.
  • Will be on-call on a rotational basis.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Electrical Engineering

Required Technical Skills: SAP, AutoCAD, Project and Microsoft Office.

Additional Requirements
  • Working knowledge of PLC programming and process control systems is preferred (CTI, PLC-5 and SLC500).
  • Experience in instrumentation, motors, starters and VFD’s, communication.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
