Job summary

Primero is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design electrical distribution and control systems across feasibility, design, construction and commissioning phases. You will work under the supervision of the Chief E&I Engineer, supporting project delivery for mining and processing facilities in North America.

Responsibilities include creating single-line and schematic diagrams, load lists, equipment specs, and liaising with vendors and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 3-7 years of relevant electrical design experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required (Utah preferred; any U.S. state license will be considered).
• Experience with low and medium voltage systems (transformers, switchgear/MCC, VFDs, generators) is an asset.
• Experience with PLC instrumentation and control systems is an advantage.
• Expertise with ETAP, familiarity with AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of CEC and IEC codes.
• Experience in mining or oil/gas industry with on-site work during construction and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Develop single line, schematic and termination diagrams.
• Develop electrical load lists, equipment lists, cable schedules and material take-offs.
• Develop specifications and datasheets for procurement of electrical equipment, instruments and control systems.
• Research, design and evaluate electrical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements.
• Complete and work in a timely fashion with a diligent attitude, while focusing on safety in design and work.
• Liaise with vendors, clients, draftspersons and interdisciplinary engineers for design activities.
• Provide site support during construction and commissioning phases.
• Provide direction to draftspersons to ensure outputs meet engineering requirements.
