Job summary

Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, is seeking a senior electrical engineer to lead PCB design for power distribution, motor drivers, and sensor integration in a robotics platform. Qualifications

  • 5+ years of electrical theory, robotics, controls experience.
  • 4+ years of motor controls experience.
  • Experience developing products for large volume production.
  • Strong PCB design and layout skills (Altium, KiCad) with high-power, signal integrity, and thermal constraints.
  • Experience with lithium-ion battery systems and BMS hardware/software.
  • Proficiency with embedded interfaces (FDCAN, SPI, I2C, RS485, USB) and STM32.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation and compliance for robotics or industrial systems.
  • Experience in robotics, automotive, aerospace, or real-time electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, layout, and validation of PCBs for power distribution, motor drivers, embedded systems, and sensors.
  • Architect and optimize power distribution and battery system for a robot with high-performance actuators and real-time compute workloads.
  • Develop and refine lithium-ion battery system.
  • Develop high-efficiency system power architecture and power monitoring circuitry.
  • Ensure EMI/EMC, signal integrity, and thermal design best practices for high-reliability electronics.
  • Collaborate with firmware engineers on real-time control strategies for motion.
  • Work with mechanical engineers on thermal management for batteries and high-power electronics.
  • Define electrical architecture for real-time control, networking, and diagnostics with high-speed, low-latency communication.
  • Support bring-up, debugging, and testing of prototype robots with firmware and mechanical teams.
  • Source components and oversee production with vendors/contract manufacturers.

Key job responsibilities

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment experience
  • 4+ years of motor controls (motor starts, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components) experience
  • Experience developing products for large volume production
  • Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization
  • Strong PCB design and layout skills (Altium, KiCad, or similar) with an understanding of high-power circuits, signal integrity, and thermal constraints
  • Experience with lithium-ion battery systems, BMS hardware/software, and power distribution architectures
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, including experience with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and motor test benches
  • Proficiency with embedded system interfaces (FDCAN, SPI, I2C, RS485, USB) and experience working with STM32 microcontrollers
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and compliance standards for industrial or robotics systems
  • Experience working in robotics, automotive, aerospace, or other real-time electromechanical systems
