Job summary

Medix seeks an Electrical Engineer to join a new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Des Plaines, IL. The role spans installation, startup, commissioning, qualification, and release of electrical infrastructure, with ongoing reliability, maintenance, safety, and regulatory compliance once operational.

The engineer will inspect installations, review drawings, troubleshoot power distribution, coordinate contractors, and develop maintenance programs within cGMP and SAP workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Five or more years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong experience with industrial electrical systems and power distribution.
• Hands-on experience with switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, and similar equipment.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and single-line diagrams.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support installation, energization, startup, commissioning, and qualification of new electrical systems.
• Review single-line diagrams, electrical drawings, equipment specs, load requirements, and contractor docs.
• Inspect installations for compliance with standards and project specs.
• Troubleshoot power distribution, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, UPS, generators, motors, and drives.
• Perform incident investigations and root-cause analyses.
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs for electrical infrastructure.
• Establish equipment, service, inspection, and maintenance requirements within SAP.
• Monitor performance and recommend reliability improvements, repairs, upgrades, or replacements.
• Coordinate and supervise contractors, equipment vendors, and service providers.
