Job summary

Siemens Energy seeks an Electrical Systems Engineer to drive digitization initiatives for power plant equipment using COMOS, creating and validating interface diagrams, load lists, and schematics.

You will develop electrical concepts for new units and reference plants, design components, and maintain technical tools while supporting bids and supplier qualification. Fluent English and international travel capability are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science combined with 3+ years experience in electrical components technologies.
• Experience with Electrical Systems including Power Control Centers, Static Excitation Systems, Startup Frequency Converters, Protective Relaying Systems, Low Voltage Power Distribution Systems.
• Basic knowledge of COMOS, EPLAN, AutoCAD, plant design software and TIA Portal; basic experience in Electrical Systems engineering and project execution.
• Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, VDE, EN and other international/local standards governing electrical design and installation.
• Attention to detail in design calculations and ability to manage multiple tasks with quality and timeliness.
• Excellent communication skills; fluent in English; able to travel internationally up to ~10%.

A Snapshot of Your Day

The Electrical Systems engineering team is responsible for the specification, selection, design review, cost calculation and quality control, for simple and combined cycle power plant equipment including, but not limited to: Power Control Centers, Static Excitation Systems, Static Frequency Converters, Protective Relaying Systems, Low Voltage Power Distribution Systems.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Conduct electrical engineering initiatives in international projects focused on the digitalization of Gas and Steam Turbine Power Plants using COMOS as the primary digitalization platform for the automated generation of document deliverables.

• Support the digital creation of project specific document deliverables consisting of single line diagrams, interconnection diagrams, load lists and electrical schematics

• Develop and manage cable and termination information using digitalization platforms such as COMOS and plant design software to enhance project efficiency and accuracy.

• Contribute to the development of electrical concepts and system designs for reference power plants and their project specific adaptation serving proposal activities and new unit project implementations.

• Design and specification of electrical components in the scope of the team.

• Creation, review, release and maintenance of technical design tools and engineering documentation for the previously mentioned equipment

• Provide technical support to bid management during proposal activities.

• Provide technical support to supply chain management to facilitate supplier development and supplier/product qualification activities

• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of global engineering processes, tools, and documentation.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electrical engineering or computer science combined with a minimum of 3 years experience in the technologies of electrical components.

• Experience and basic knowledge of Electrical Systems including Power Control Centers, Static Excitation Systems, Startup Frequency Converters, Protective Relaying Systems, Low Voltage Power Distribution Systems preferred.

• Basic knowledge of digitalization platforms such as COMOS, EPLAN, AUTOCAD, plant design software and TIA Portal, as well as basic experience in engineering and project execution for Electrical Systems.

• Experienced in the interpretation and application of relevant international and local standards governing the design and installation of electrical components including IEC, IEEE, VDE, EN etc.

• Ability to focus on tasks requiring attention to detail such as design calculations for electrical systems and to handle multiple tasks in parallel while meeting high quality standards and set timelines.

• Excellent team player and communicator; fluent in English (written and verbal)

• Ability to travel internationally for short durations if required (up to approximately 10%).

• Experience in interpreting technical contract requirements, customer negotiations, or commissioning of components in the scope of the team is preferred.
