Halo Industries, Inc., a Stanford-founded innovator in laser-based manufacturing, is expanding its electrical engineering team in Santa Clara, California. The Electrical group is building semiconductor capital equipment and seeks system owners responsible for specification, design, build and validation of electrical systems for wafer processing equipment.

Qualifications

• BSEE with 3+ years or MSEE with 2+ year experience.
• Experience with design of power distribution, I/O control systems, interlocking and motion control.
• Experience with electrical tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Altium, SPICE).
• Proficient driving complex, cross-functional hardware and embedded system issues from root cause to resolution.
• Proficient with lab tools (oscilloscope, DVM, logic analyzers, hand tools).
• Strong knowledge of NFPA79 and UL 508A.
• Experience building and debugging prototype power panels, PCBAs, cables, I/O systems, computers.
• Experience coordinating with PLM and ERP for BOMs and ECOs.

Responsibilities

• Partner with software, mechanical, and process engineers to define system requirements.
• Design electrical power distribution, I/O control, interlock schemes and interface circuitry.
• Create and manage project schedules with ownership of deliverables.
• Lead design reviews, risk assessments and DFMEA within stage-gate process.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners to build, refine and release designs.
• Build, test, and debug prototype machines and subsystems.
• Drive root cause analysis across disciplines.
• Share expertise and mentor other team members.

The Opportunity

The Electrical team is seeking motivated engineers with strong fundamentals to join a dynamic, R&D environment developing semiconductor capital equipment in close collaboration with software, mechanical and process engineers. The candidate will act as a system or module owner responsible for specification, design, build and validation of electrical systems for wafer processing equipment. The ideal candidate will have broad experience applying solid electrical engineering principles to equipment design and enjoy the opportunity to engage in full system design with a strong ownership role in the engineering process from definition through delivery

Role and Responsibilities

• Partner closely with Software, Mechanical, and Process Engineers to define system requirements and ensure cross-functional integration of semiconductor capital equipment
• Design electrical power distribution, device I/O control, interlock schemes and interface circuitry
• Create and manage project schedules with strong ownership of deliverables
• Integrate, direct and lead other team members in accomplishing system design, build and test
• Lead design reviews, risk assessments and DFMEA processes within a stage-gate process
• Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing partners to build, refine and release designs
• Build, test, debug prototype machines and subsystems
• Drive methodical multi-disciplinary root cause analysis when necessary
• Elevate the team by sharing your expertise and guiding other team members

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• BSEE with 3+ years or MSEE with 2+ year experience
• Experience with design of power distribution, I/O control systems, interlocking and motion control
• Experience with electrical tools (Autocad Electrical, Altium, SPICE)
• Proficient driving complex, cross-functional hardware and embedded system issues from root cause to resolution
• Proficient with lab tools (oscilloscope, DVM, logic analyzers, hand tools)
• Strong working knowledge and ability to apply industry standards such as NFPA79 and UL 508A
• Experience with build, test and debug of prototype power panels, PCBAs, cables, I/O systems, computers
• Experience organizing and tracking internal and external resources to accomplish overall goals
• Experience working effectively with PLM and ERP systems to create and manage BOMs, ECOs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing semiconductor capital equipment to SEMI S2, S22 standards
• Experience integrating EtherCAT and safety PLC systems
• Experience with industrial computer, OS integration and configuration
• Familiar with equipment risk assessment and hazard analysis (SEMI S10, IEC 62061)
• Analog circuit and FPGA design and modeling experience
• Proficient with mechanical CAD (SolidWorks or similar)
• Experience with test automation and data analysis techniques
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Strong technical acumen, communication and presentation skills: capable of engaging in detailed technical discussions while simplifying complex topics for broader audiences
