Job summary

Subcritical Systems, Inc. in Austin, TX, seeks an experienced electrical engineer to lead the cryomodule electrical systems for AI-driven SRF cavities. You will oversee RF delivery, magnets, power supplies, diagnostics, and interlocks, coordinating with SRF, cryogenics, mechanicals, controls, and manufacturing teams.

You will also feed test data and models into ATLAS, reviewing outputs before fabrication and promoting a proactive safety culture across electrical work and LOTO practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 3+ years of electrical engineering experience on accelerator, RF, or power systems, or 6+ years in broader electrical engineering.
• System-level expertise in high-power RF and couplers, Low Level RF, magnet power supplies or beam diagnostics electronics.
• Knowledge of resonant cavity coupling, transmission lines, and analog/digital circuit design.
• Hands-on RF testing with network/spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters; able to read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Own the cryomodule's electrical engineering scope: design, fabrication, AI implementation, assembly and commissioning.
• Design and specify high-power RF systems.
• Specify superconducting magnets, current leads, DC power supplies, and quench protection for the cryomodule.
• Develop beam position monitors and cryomodule instrumentation, including signal chains and readout electronics.
• Define interlocks and equipment protection and integrate with control systems.
• Develop schematics, specifications, and test procedures; commission and troubleshoot hardware.
• Translate models and data into ATLAS and review outputs before fabrication or testing.
