Job summary

Refex Renewables is seeking a senior Project Engineer to lead EPC project execution, ensuring HSSE/S and quality policy adherence across the project. You will drive FEED/EPC activities, manage a multi-disciplinary team, and coordinate P&ID development, changes, and document control.

The role requires strong leadership, design review expertise, and experience with CAAD tools, with emphasis on delivering projects on schedule and to Refex quality standards.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years in an engineering environment with EPC role for 3 years in discipline project execution.
• Ability to lead medium teams in a multi‑discipline task force environment.
• Proven expertise in FEED and EPC engineering execution including field engineering.
• Expertise in design reviews – Auto CAD.

Responsibilities

• Ensure HSSE&S and Q policies are implemented and understood by all supervised staff.
• Deliver Project Engineering scope of work for the project to schedule and quality requirements.
• Manage project engineering team performance and ensure alignment with Refex quality system.
• Review progress with Project Head and engineers; identify and resolve blockers.
• Coordinate P&ID production and engineering change management across the project.
• Chair plot plan reviews for Electrical Components, Piping and Instruments; capture actions.
• Attend weekly Lead Engineers meetings and design/constructability reviews.
• Coordinate document distribution and filing systems; document lessons learned.
• Produce project close-out report and set up line lists content and layout.

Refex Renewables, an established member of the Refex Group, boasts nearly a decade of experience in proficiently managing solar assets, with a substantial installation base totalling 1 GW. As a committed advocate for environmental sustainability, Refex has recently ventured into the Compressed Biogas (CBG) market exclusively as a developer. Our expansion into this sector involves a strategic approach, combining participation in government tenders and the acquisition of existing plants.

While Refex is genuinely enthusiastic about contributing to the CBG market, we acknowledge our current limitations in technical know-how and specialized expertise necessary for substantial growth in this industry.

Roles:

• 1. Ensure that the content and objective of the Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Sustainability Policies (HSSE&S) and Quality Policy and the Information Security policies are implemented and understood by all supervised staff.
• 2. Ensure that the content and objective of the Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Sustainability Policies (HSSE&S) and Quality Policy and the Information Security policies are implemented and understood by all supervised staff.
• 3. Delivery of Project Engineering scope of work for whole Project to schedule and compliant to Refex and Project quality requirements.
• 4. Project Engineering team performance, ensuring each member of the Project Engineering team is delivering according to their job description and the correct application of Refex quality system as it relates to Project Engineering.
• 5. Review progress regularly with Project Head and Project Engineers, understand key issues preventing progress and assist in resolving these issues.
• 6. Overall responsibility for P&I&D production across all areas. Coordinate Engineering change management activities across the whole Project.
• 7. Arrange and chair overall plot plan review for Electrical Components, Piping and Instruments. Ensure that notes and actions from this review are taken and issued promptly
• 8. Attend weekly Lead Engineers meeting, Electrical Design Review, Constructability Review.
• 9. Coordinate Engineering input to document distribution matrix and ensure matrix is regularly reviewed and updated.
• 10. Identify filing systems requirements and ensure these are properly documented.
• 11. Coordinate the capture of all engineering lessons learned ensuring that these are submitted into the Company system for corporate review.
• 12. Monitor status of actions arising from QA and discipline audits and expedite their closure where required.
• 13. Produce project close out report for Project Engineering activities and Set-up / agreement for line lists etc. content and layout.

Desired Profile:

• 1. A minimum of 7 years of experience in Engineering environment with EPC role for 3 years in discipline project execution (Essential).
• 2. Ability to lead medium teams in a multi-discipline task force-based engineering / lumpsum services environment.
• 3. Proven expertise in FEED and EPC Engineering execution including Field Engineering in Project execution
• 4. Expertise in Design Reviews - auto CAAD.

Top 3 mandatory skills required to perform this job:

• 1. Experience in anaerobic digestion technology and gas production processes.
• 2. Certification in project management (PMP) or equivalent or Competency Certificate C - License
• 3. Knowledge of CAD software and other engineering tools.
• 4. Prior experience in the renewable energy or waste-to-energy sector is an advantage.
