Farnsworth Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer - Building Systems in one of the below posting locations. This key position will serve as a project manager for the local electrical engineering team supporting local and nationwide clients.


Qualified candidates must have solid technical experience with the preparation of electrical construction drawings, specifications, submittals and construction administration. The ability to develop and mentor staff, collaborate with other disciplines, establish and maintain budgets, and work in partnership with leadership throughout the Company is essential.


Posting Locations for this role: Champaign, Normal, Peoria, or Springfield, IL


Job Activities:


  • Actively engage in and assume responsibility for code research and application

  • Create preliminary schematics and final designs with oversight from more experienced staff

  • Perform calculations, equipment selection and layout

  • Preparation of accurate lighting, power, and systems construction drawings and specifications

  • Submittal review and construction administration

  • Assist in maintaining project design budgets and schedules

  • Interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors

  • Using REVIT and AutoCAD software design and prepare documents of MEP designs and plans according to specs, sketches, and rough drafts


Specific Requirements include:


  • BS in Electrical Engineering related to the Building Construction Industry

  • Licenses/Registrations: Professional Engineer License (PE) strongly preferred

  • 5-10 years of Building Electrical and Lighting Design experience

  • Application knowledge of electrical, building, and energy codes is desired

  • Provide direction to Designers and CAD Technicians

  • Prior management experience preferred

  • Strong verbal and writing skills

  • Strong background with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and REVIT

  • Ability to travel

Salary Range: $80k - $100k (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity)
