Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of electrical design experience, focusing on battery systems and chargers.
  • Advanced knowledge of standards for batteries and chargers (ANSI, OSHA, NFPA70, IEEE).
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and multitasking.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork across stakeholders.
  • Willing to travel internationally up to 10%.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop battery and battery charger solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, sizing calculation tools, customer product documentation, test protocols for FAT and/or site testing during commissioning activities.
  • Support engineers and customers during proposals and project execution; participate in testing and validation to ensure specs.
  • Collaborate with battery vendors and SCM on supplier qualification and cost improvements.

The Electrical Systems department is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer specializing in batteries and battery chargers to join our Product Development team.

The Electrical Systems department specifies, designs, and integrates power plant equipment, including E-houses, Excitation Systems, Start-Up Frequency Converters, Low Voltage Power Distribution Systems, Generator Protection, and Generator Electric Auxiliary Equipment.

The successful candidate will focus on designing and specifying battery systems and chargers, ensuring their integration with other electrical equipment and existing plant infrastructure. This role requires a strong electrical engineering background, design expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a global, multidisciplinary team, including various engineering disciplines, supply chain management, quality management, and program management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop battery and battery charger solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, sizing calculation tools, customer product documentation, test protocols for FAT and/or site testing during commissioning activities.
  • Support other engineers and customers during proposal and project implementation activities to ensure successful project execution and participate in testing and validation processes to ensure compliance with design specifications and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with vendors and other experts in battery technology to share best practices related to battery and charger design, and work with supply chain management to support new supplier qualification initiatives, cost update and cost improvement programs.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of electrical design experience, focusing on battery systems and chargers.
  • Advanced knowledge in interpreting and applying relevant standards for the design, testing and installation of batteries and battery chargers (ANSI, OSHA, NFPA70, IEEE).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting quality standards and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, capable of collaborating effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel internationally for short durations (up to 10%).
