Job summary

Sabanto in Ames, IA is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to own the design, validation, and production release of vehicle wiring harnesses for autonomous agricultural equipment. You will handle high-current power distribution, CAN and Ethernet communications, RF cabling, environmental sealing, manufacturability, and supplier management.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, and hands-on testing with diagnostic equipment.

Qualifications

Bachelors or higher in Electrical Engineering.
5+ years of professional experience.
On-site position based in Ames, IA.
Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Entrepreneurial attitude with attention to detail.
Experience with CAN bus, Ethernet and RF cable assemblies.
Organized, disciplined, and able to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

Take specifications of tractors, components and communication protocols and turn them into working designs.
Component selection: wires, connectors, terminals, protective sleeving based on performance and environmental requirements.
Create technical drawings of wiring harnesses (2D/3D layouts).
Select fuses and circuit protection and qualify them.
Consider EMI/EMC and perform testing.
Select manufacturers and track inventory and qualification.
Own qualification and quality testing with test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs).
Troubleshoot production usage issues.
