Job summary

Novelis Oswego is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead the design, maintenance and improvement of electrical automation systems and HV/MV switchyards. You will direct teams across reliability, automation and controls to boost quality, throughput, and efficiency.

The role covers electrical equipment selection, power distribution upgrades, and coordination of plant outages and preventative maintenance. A Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years in related roles are required, with

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
5+ years of experience as Electrical Engineer or Control/Systems Engineer.
Experience with P&ID, specifications and project requirements for electrical, instrument and control systems.
Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Modicon, Allen-Bradley, Rockwell).
HMI experience (WinCC Flexible, RSView, InTouch).
Experience with AC/DC motor drives; electrical AutoCAD; and plant commissioning.

Responsibilities

Lead selection of electrical equipment and coordinate drawings, cable sizing, routing and schedules.
Maintain high/medium voltage power to the facility and perform annual substation maintenance.
Oversee transformer maintenance, oil sampling and DC power battery maintenance.
Improve site power distribution and switchgear configurations.
Plan plant outages and preventive maintenance with coordination with partners.
Maintain power distribution drawings and coordinate with procurement on materials.
Support capital projects with load studies and scope development.
Ensure safety, quality and ISO compliance across electrical systems.
