Job Description
Coffman Engineers is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with eight to twelve years of consulting engineering experience. In this role, you will contribute to a variety of challenging projects, support our electrical engineering group, and partner with other disciplines across the firm.
Responsibilities
- Prepare electrical and lighting plans, specifications, and technical reports.
- Support business development and marketing initiatives as needed.
- Contribute to team mentorship, knowledge sharing, and firm‑wide growth.
- Travel occasionally for site visits and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Work independently and collaboratively across multiple disciplines.
- Lead projects and coordinate activities when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification (required).
- Knowledge of local codes and standards (preferred).
- Experience with local contractors, architects, and construction practices (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of electrical and lighting system design for diverse building types.
- Experience with medium‑voltage distribution, generation, and protection systems (preferred).
- Proficiency with SKM, ETAP, or similar electrical modeling software.
- Experience in the power industry with industrial, higher education, healthcare, or commercial projects.
- Familiarity with electrical/energy codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NESC, IESNA, IECC, etc.).
- Experience with lighting design (preferred).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and related design software (preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams.
- Desire and capability to lead projects and coordinate across multiple disciplines.
- Willingness to travel for occasional site visits.
- Must be able to work in the office four (4) days a week.
