Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Roy, UT is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the Sentinel program as part of the FED team. You will work as a system and/or equipment design engineer focusing on facility electrical design.

Responsibilities include design, analysis, test procedures, and coordination with cross‑functional teams; will require US Citizenship and DoD Secret clearance; relocation and travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university.
  • 0 years of experience (fresh‑graduate level).
  • US Citizenship with an active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval within a reasonable period.
  • Experience with electrical and power-system design and analysis, control systems, or engine/generator subsystems.
  • Knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter PLM or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of power-system design/analysis tools such as ETAP, PSS/E, SKM (PTW), Easy Power, PSCAD or equivalent.
  • Comfortable with industry codes, standards, mil-specs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Serve as a system and/or equipment design engineer on the Facility Electrical Design Team.
  • Interpret Weapon System design intent and apply it to facility power system and equipment design decisions.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic and fundamental electrical engineering skills.
  • Participate in cross‑functional collaboration with engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Support design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion, distribution systems, and circuit protective requirements for ground systems.
  • Perform electrical system analysis, develop test procedures, define power architectures, and prepare reports and analyses.
  • Attend internal program, customer, and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and formal program milestone reviews to provide status updates.
  • Coordinate between facility electrical design and other integration teams.
  • Integrate and document electrical systems design for the weapon system.
  • Coordinate electrical system engineering content and work products.
  • Perform research, evaluation, and systems integration of electrical or electro‑mechanical systems, cables, connectors, power systems, test equipment, and more.
  • Apply strong interpersonal skills to understand system‑level interdependencies impacting electrical requirements and design constraints.
  • Demonstrate leadership principles – integrity, respect, organization, communication, etc.

Overview

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Electrical Engineer located in Roy, UT to support the Sentinel program. The candidate will join the Sentinel Launch Systems Infrastructure Facility Electrical Design (FED) Team as a system and/or equipment design engineer.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous NGC internship.
  • Experience with high‑power and/or high‑frequency systems, including power‑electronics.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design, shielding techniques, and thermal management for electronic systems.
  • Experience using simulation and analysis tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB, or equivalents.
  • Electrical‑design experience in CAD (e.g., NX, Revit) or equivalent.
  • Experience designing, troubleshooting (RCA), and/or implementing ground‑power, facility‑power, and launch‑power systems.

Standard work schedule: 9/80 (nine‑hour days Monday‑Thursday, every other Friday off). This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Compensation

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00. Salary includes consideration of scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives for higher positions.
