Job description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team. Mora Technologies provides modern control systems and custom designed automated cells/machines for manufacturers in the US, primarily in the mid-west region. Our focus/culture is to provide top of the line automated systems with high-quality results to our customers. New team members are expected to be held to that same high standard. Come join a strong growing team with a unique culture of ownership, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence!

We are seeking a candidate who can take ownership of electrical design for industrial control systems, from concept through commissioning. This role is primarily focused on electrical engineering — panel design, schematics, power distribution, and code compliance — but familiarity with PLC/controls concepts is a strong plus, as the candidate will work closely with our automation team. The ability to learn new systems quickly is required.

The ideal candidate will be capable of supporting the design and development of electrical systems for industrial machines and control panels, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with relevant codes and standards. Candidate must be comfortable interacting with physical systems on machines and in plant sites. Understanding of general electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems is required. The candidate must show a willingness to tackle complex problems and the ability to manage multiple projects at once. Candidate will be responsible for working with an engineering team to complete projects.

This position is for full-time in person employment. The position includes salary plus benefits, health insurance, 401k plans, and PTO policies. Flexible remote work schedules are available when needed. In-person is required for building a strong team bond.

Key Areas of Expertise Desired:
  • Electrical Design & Schematics
  • Control Panel Layout & Fabrication Support
Common Platforms & Tools Used:
  • EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks Electrical
  • Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff (controls hardware)
  • Ignition, WonderWare (SCADA/HMI, familiarity a plus)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Electrical Design & Engineering:
    • Design and develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams for industrial control systems.
    • Select and specify electrical components including PLCs, drives, motors, sensors, breakers, and power supplies.
    • Perform load calculations, short-circuit analysis, and ensure proper sizing of electrical components.
    • Design control panels and coordinate with panel shops or in-house fabrication teams.
  • Engineering Drawings & Documentation:
    • Create and maintain detailed electrical engineering drawings using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar software.
    • Document all electrical designs, bill of materials (BOMs), and system configurations.
    • Support creation of user manuals and operational documentation for electrical systems.
    • Collaborate with automation engineers to integrate electrical designs with PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to electrical systems, wiring, and control panels.
    • Support commissioning and startup of new electrical/control systems on-site.
    • Support automation projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring electrical milestones are met within budget and on schedule.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and maintenance to optimize system performance.
    • Ensure all electrical designs comply with NEC, UL508A, NFPA 79, and other relevant industry standards and regulations.
    • Implement and promote best practices for electrical safety and risk management in automated processes.
    • Travel required for on-site commissioning and in-person support when projects require it.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • 2–5 years of experience in electrical design, ideally within industrial automation, machine building, or manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, UL508A, and NFPA 79 standards.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar electrical design software.
  • Exposure to PLC/controls programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Beckhoff) is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
