Job summary

CyberCoders is seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer (PE) to support design, construction, and commissioning of medium-voltage and power distribution systems for healthcare, higher education, and commercial campuses. You will deliver code-compliant designs, prepare drawings, cost estimates, and execution plans while coordinating with architects, contractors, and operations teams.

The role requires strong technical judgment, experience producing specifications, and the ability to manage budgets

Qualifications

• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in healthcare, higher education, and commercial infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical design for healthcare, higher-education, and commercial facilities, including power distribution and medium-voltage systems.
• Prepare and review drawings, specifications, study reports, and RFP documents ensuring NEC compliance.
• Produce cost estimates, budgets, and execution plans; track costs and provide value engineering.
• Serve as project engineer/lead: manage schedules, coordinate with teams, issue addenda and SI during construction.
• Perform load studies, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and voltage drop analyses.
• Coordinate procurement, review submittals, and evaluate vendor drawings for switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators.
• Support permits and code reviews; represent firm with authorities having jurisdiction.
• Provide construction administration and commissioning support; site inspections and RFI responses.
• Mentor staff and contribute to engineering standards and documentation.
• Contribute to proposal development and study reports with technical scope and cost breakdowns.

Position Overview
We are seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer (PE) with experience in healthcare and commercial projects to support design, construction, and commissioning of medium-voltage and power distribution systems. The ideal candidate will deliver safe, code-compliant electrical designs (including NEC/National Electrical Code requirements), prepare technical documents, cost estimates, and execution plans, and coordinate with architecture, construction, and operations teams for Central Energy Plant and campus infrastructure projects. This role requires strong technical judgment, experience producing drawings and specifications, and the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and addenda during project delivery.
Key Responsibilities

• Develop electrical design for healthcare, higher-education, and commercial facilities including power distribution, medium-voltage systems, Central Energy Plant interfaces, emergency/standby power, and lighting/controls.
• Prepare and review construction drawings, specifications, study reports, and proposal request documents ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and project standards.
• Produce cost estimates, budgets, and execution plans; track project costs and provide value engineering recommendations to meet financial targets.
• Serve as project engineer and/or lead: manage schedules, coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, contractors, and owners; issue addendums and Supplemental Instructions (SI) as needed during construction.
• Perform engineering calculations and technical analyses for load studies, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and voltage drop to support equipment selections and system design.
• Coordinate procurement activities, review submittals, and evaluate vendor drawings for switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, and medium-voltage equipment.
• Support permit and code review processes; prepare documentation for professional review and approvals and represent the firm in technical discussions with authorities having jurisdiction.
• Provide construction administration and commissioning support including site inspections, RFI responses, review of shop drawings, and closeout documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians, contribute to engineering standards and best practices, and help maintain project documentation and record drawings.
• Contribute to proposal development and study reports by preparing technical scope, cost breakdowns, schedules, and risk assessments.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural/Electrical Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
• Current Professional Engineer (PE) license required; prior credential such as CEP/CEPE or similar is a plus.
• Minimum 7 years of electrical engineering experience with a focus on healthcare, higher education, and commercial infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated expertise with National Electrical Code (NEC) and experience applying NEC requirements to design and construction.
• Experience with medium-voltage systems, power distribution design, Central Energy Plant electrical interfaces, standby power, and emergency systems.
• Strong ability to produce and review construction drawings, specifications, addenda, supplemental instructions, and bid documents.
• Experience preparing cost estimates, budgets, execution plans, schedules, and managing project financials.
• Proven experience in construction administration: RFIs, submittal review, shop drawing review, site visits, and commissioning support.
• Familiarity with power system analysis tools and calculations (load studies, fault current, coordination, arc flash, voltage drop).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience preparing study reports, proposal requests, and professional documents.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, work with contractors/owners, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Prior experience in the preparation and review of drawings, specifications, and documents for procurement and construction.
• Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and code compliance.
