Job summary

Verto People seeks a Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead power system studies and design across critical infrastructure projects in the US. This role blends analytical work with hands-on field support, covering short-circuit, arc-flash and coordination studies.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience, a B.E. in electrical engineering, and strong NEC/NFPA/IEEE knowledge, with willingness to travel to customer sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with power/energy focus.
  • 5+ years of power systems engineering experience with meaningful field exposure.
  • Experience with short-circuit, coordination and arc-flash studies using SKM/ETAP/EasyPower.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards and equipment standards.
  • Experience with engine-generator systems, utility paralleling, switchgear controls.
  • Strong LV/MV distribution experience including switchgear, transformers and relays.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites and project locations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform short-circuit, protective device coordination and arc-flash studies.
  • Review electrical equipment ratings, system designs and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare, review and support electrical drawings, schematics and documentation.
  • Provide technical support during project development, equipment selection and execution.
  • Support utility interconnection activities, generation systems and power distribution applications.
  • Assist with commissioning activities, testing, troubleshooting and field engineering support.
  • Work with customer representatives, engineering teams and project stakeholders at site locations as required.

Location: USA - Travel Nationwide to Customer Sites

Compensation: Up to $200,000 Depending on Experience

A Senior Power Systems Engineer / Power Systems Engineer / Critical Power Engineer is required for a national critical power engineering role supporting mission-critical electrical infrastructure projects across the US. The ideal candidate will be based in the Midwest, although candidates elsewhere in the US will be considered due to the travel requirements of the position.

This role offers the opportunity to work on major power infrastructure projects, providing technical leadership across power system studies, equipment applications, utility infrastructure projects, project support and field engineering activities. The successful Senior Power Systems Engineer will combine advanced electrical engineering expertise with hands‑on customer and site support, with strong Medium Voltage distribution and utility infrastructure experience highly valued.

Senior Critical Power Systems Engineer Role:
  • Perform and support short-circuit, protective device coordination and arc-flash studies using industry-standard power system analysis software
  • Review electrical equipment ratings, system designs and compliance requirements
  • Prepare, review and support electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation
  • Provide technical support during project development, equipment selection and execution
  • Support utility interconnection activities, generation systems and power distribution applications
  • Assist with commissioning activities, testing, troubleshooting and complex field engineering support
  • Work with customer representatives, engineering teams and project stakeholders at site locations as required
Senior Critical Power Systems Engineer Requirements:
  • Experience as a Senior Power Systems Engineer, Power Systems Engineer, Electrical Power Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Critical Power Engineer or similar electrical engineering role.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, ideally with a power or energy systems focus
  • 5+ years of power systems engineering experience with meaningful field exposure
  • Experience completing short-circuit, coordination and arc-flash studies using SKM, ETAP or EasyPower
  • Strong knowledge of NEC requirements, NFPA standards, IEEE standards and electrical equipment standards
  • Experience with engine-generator systems, utility paralleling systems and switchgear controls
  • Strong low and medium voltage distribution experience, including switchgear, transformers, transfer switches and protective relays
  • Ability to travel to customer sites and project locations as required
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit Electrical for reviewing or producing electrical documentation is preferred
