Job summary

Kodiak Gas Services is seeking an Electrical Engineer for Kodiak Power Solutions to design, install, and optimize power plant systems. You will work with Engineering, Commercial, and field teams to ensure designs meet Kodiak standards and customer requirements.

Requirements include 2–5 years in power/control systems, ABET-accredited program, and strong analytical and communication skills. This on-site role is based in The Woodlands, TX.

Qualifications

  • ABET accredited degree program in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Experience in electrical/control systems engineering in industrial settings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

  • Design power plant systems to meet performance metrics and standards.
  • Review field evaluations, measure performance, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues in generation units and plant equipment.
  • Develop drawings to confirm designs align with Kodiak standards and industry practices.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Construction to incorporate customer requirements.

Position Summary

The Electrical Engineer for Kodiak Power Solutions (KPS) supports the design, installation, performance, and optimization of Power Plant systems. This role works closely with Engineering, Commercial, and cross-functional teams to ensure electrical and control system designs meet Kodiak standards, customer requirements, and industry specifications. The Electrical Engineer is expected to independently manage standard engineering tasks while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and supporting field operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design power plant systems to meet performance metrics, customer requirements, Kodiak standards, and applicable industry specifications.
  • Review field evaluations, measure plant performance, and analyze results to identify issues, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve inefficiencies, malfunctions, or performance concerns involving generation units, electrical systems, and station equipment.
  • Review and develop drawings to confirm power plant designs align with Kodiak design requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Construction teams to incorporate customer requirements and special provisions into plant and package designs.
  • Support electrical and control system design, including component selection, system layouts, and integration.
  • Contribute to project execution through design reviews, schedule coordination, and timely completion of technical deliverables.
  • Analyze data and develop recommendations to improve system performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, codes, safety regulations, and internal requirements.
  • Complete all required Kodiak safety training and follow established safety policies, procedures, and requirements. Promote a safe work environment by using safe work practices and supporting the well-being of fellow Kodiak employees.
Education, Experience and Training
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • ABET accredited course
  • 2–5 years of engineering experience, with industry-related experience preferred (Power Systems, Control Systems, similar sectors)
  • Experience designing or supporting electrical and control systems in an industrial environment
  • Experience collecting, organizing, and analyzing data; summarizing findings and developing conclusions
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, control systems, and equipment performance
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Strong analytical approach to understanding and solving problems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Familiarity with engineering tools, systems, and design software

Physical Demands
  • Extended or non-traditional working hours may be required.
  • Must be able to stand or walk on uneven terrain, climb personnel stairs and ladders, stoop, squat, and/or crawl depending on the assigned task.
  • Requires frequent typing and use of computers and other office equipment, such as copiers, printers, calendars, and telephones.
