Job summary

Kaiser Aluminum in Spokane, WA is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to lead multiple plant projects from conception through commissioning. This onsite role requires coordinating cross-functional teams to develop scope, budgets, and schedules, while ensuring compliance with Kaiser standards and electrical codes.

You will prepare capital authorizations, review bid packages and install contracts, and support electrical safety initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in BSEE or BSET is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing projects from conception through commissioning.
  • Familiarity with electrical design standards and NEC/NFPA70E.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional project teams to define scope and requirements.
  • Develop and manage project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Prepare capital authorizations and bid evaluations.
  • Review design packages for compliance with contract documents and Kaiser standards.

We are looking for an Electrical Project Engineering to join Kaiser Aluminum Operations in Spokane Washington!

This is an onsite position. At this time, we are not able to offer visa sponsorship for this role, either now or in the future. Therefore, we cannot move forward with candidates who would require sponsorship and or are on (e.g., H-1B, F-1, STEM OPT, OPT) visas.

The Electrical Project Engineering applies knowledge and experience to manage projects. The position is also responsible for implementing new designs and upgrades to electrical systems. The Engineer will manage multiple projects often from conception thru commissioning and close-out. Projects include capacity, process and reliability improvements for areas throughout the facility. What you will work on:
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional project teams to develop project scope and requirements
  • Develop and manage project scope, resourcing plan, budget, and schedule
  • Prepare capital authorizations
  • Develop specifications and evaluate technical engineering and equipment bid packages
  • Administer engineering, equipment purchase, and installation contracts
  • Coordinate and manage installations and outages
  • Track and report project performance, schedule, and cost compliance
  • Review design packages and drawings for compliance with contract documents and Kaiser standards
  • Coordinate with internal Operations, Maintenance, Technical, and Engineering resources to achieve project objectives
  • Participate in the final check-out of new installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications
  • Assist in trouble-shooting equipment control and electrical systems
  • Support electrical safety initiatives and Kaiser’s electrical standards
  • Comply with all Safety, Quality, and Environmental Regulations.
What you will bring to the position:
  • An undergraduate degree in BSEE or BSET is required. Minimum of 5 years previous electrical engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with functional and performance-based specification development
  • Familiarity with electrical and control system design including key documents such as schematics diagrams, single lines, P&ID and control narratives
  • Knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical systems, AC/DC motors and drive systems and National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E
  • Knowledge of control system theory, instrumentation, PLC based control systems and safety systems
  • Excellent analytical skills including knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work in teams
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
