Job summary

SmithGroup, a leading integrated design firm, seeks an Electrical Engineer for the San Francisco office. The role focuses on analyzing and designing electrical systems for healthcare, research labs, and other critical facilities, with a hybrid work setup and strong emphasis on collaboration and mentorship.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering, 5+ years in electrical design, and proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or Architectural Engineering) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an electrical engineer designing power distribution and lighting for healthcare, research labs, higher education, and other critical buildings.
  • LEED AP and Engineering-in-Training preferred; PE license in progress.
  • Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD and MS Office is required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design and document electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, A/V and telecom.
  • Independently provide the full range of electrical engineering services on small to medium projects.
  • Revise, review, and coordinate construction documents.
  • Mentor and train junior staff.
  • Develop solutions to electrical power distribution and lighting with integrated design teams.
  • Contribute to SmithGroup sustainable design using software for loads, short circuit, generator loads and lighting calculations.

The San Franciscooffice of SmithGroupis looking for aElectrical Engineerto join our team.

Working with us, you will:

  • Perform analysis, design and documentation of building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting design, fire alarm, security, audio/visual and telecommunications systems.
  • Independently provide the full range of electrical engineering services on small to medium-sized projects.
  • Revise, review, and coordinate construction documents.
  • Mentor and train junior level staff.
  • Develop solutions to challenging electrical power distribution and lighting systems with integrated architecture and engineering project design teams.
  • Contribute to SmithGroup sustainable design initiatives by using a variety of software to perform electrical loads, short circuit analysis, generator loads and lighting calculations.

An ideal candidate has:

  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working as an electrical engineer designing electrical power distribution and lighting systems for new and renovated healthcare, research lab, higher ed, and other critical building types.
  • LEED AP and Engineering-in-Training certification preferred, and in progress of obtaining PE license.
  • Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD and Microsoft Office required.

While we may ultimately pay more or less than a posted salary range, at the time of posting the anticipated salary range for this position is $125,000 to $148,000 annually and you are eligible for a performance-based bonus each year.
