Job summary

Actalent in Richmond, VA is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Designer to join our consulting team. You will lead projects from concept through construction administration, perform electrical calculations, and coordinate with engineers, architects, and owners.

The role offers a 40-hour workweek with hybrid flexibility after onboarding. A 4-year degree in electrical engineering (or 5+ years with an associate) and licensure pathway are preferred, with NEC/IBC/IECC knowledge and lighting software

• Working knowledge of Electrical codes (NEC, IBC, IECC/ASHRAE 90.1, NFPA).
• Experience with lighting calculation software such as VISUAL or AGi32.

We are currently seeking a full-time Electrical Engineer/Designer to be an integral member of our consulting team. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, architects, and owners.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from start to finish, coordinating all electrical design requirements.
• Complete electrical calculations and prepare specifications.
• Oversee Construction Administration duties, including reviewing submittals, answering RFIs, conducting site visits, and punch.
• Perform field work for both Existing Condition Assessments and Renovation type projects.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• 4-8 years of consulting electrical engineering design experience, preferably with large institutional or commercial projects from schematic design through construction administration.
• A four-year electrical engineering degree from an accredited college or university, or an associate degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Working knowledge of Electrical codes (NEC, IBC, IECC/ASHRAE 90.1, NFPA).
• Experience with lighting calculation software such as VISUAL or AGi32.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• EIT certification level and applying to obtain PE license, minimum.
• Electrical PE license in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or capable of obtaining quickly through reciprocity.

Work Environment

Work is scheduled Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week. There is hybrid flexibility once onboarding is complete and up and running. The environment is very relaxed and team-centered.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
