Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer to work on hydro plant projects in California on a 12+ month contract-to-hire basis. The role involves leading design tasks, performing complex analyses, and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Required are a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years of hydro or fossil power experience; a PE license is preferred and familiarity with NFPA 70 and California Electrical Code.

Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Hydro Plants - 650702

Duration: 12+ Months (Contract to Hire)

Job Description:

• Continues developing knowledge and may provide guidance and direction on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Client policies.


• Provides technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines.


• Independently applies knowledge and complies with Client quality program relative to assigned tasks.


• Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects.


• Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.


• Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.


• Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.


• Independently applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis problems and methods.


• Actively delegates appropriate tasks to lower level team members to develop depth of project execution staff.


• Reviews lower level engineering work or assignments.


• Is responsible for one or more of the following: leading production teams; coordinating multiple discipline activity; and serving as the responsible charge for a project.


• Actively coordinates with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects. Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers on low to moderately complex projects.


• May design a complete project of moderately complex scope or support multiple projects on the complex technical challenges.

Education:

Requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering from either a recognized accredited program Minimum of 5 years related work experience. PE license preferred.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 yrs Experience in hydro or fossil power generation plant design.


• Familiarity with NFPA 70.


• Familiarity with California Electrical Code.


• Experience with power system analysis software such as SKM or ETAP is a plus.
