Job summary

SSOE Group in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Electrical Engineer to develop electrical designs for tool installations, power distribution, cleanroom environments, and facility upgrades that enable next-generation technology manufacturing. The ideal candidate has a ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree, FE/EIT entry, and AutoCAD proficiency; Revit/ETAP/SKM/EasyPower knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution; licensure in AZ preferred.
  • FE/EIT exam completed or in progress is highly desired.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD for electrical design drafting; familiarity with Revit/ETAP/SKM/EasyPower a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of NEC, NFPA and electrical codes; ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Generate technical project plans, drawings, and models aligned with standards and client needs.
  • Create electrical drawings and documentation supporting tool installation, rack/ladder design, and cleanroom upgrades.
  • Size conduits/conductors based on loads and environment; verify cable tray fills for scalability.
  • Perform short-circuit and voltage-drop calculations to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Ensure designs meet local, state, and national electrical codes; collaborate with multi-discipline teams.
  • Work with senior engineers and project managers to address complex features and on-site issues.
  • Conduct site verifications and assist in field integration of design packages.

As an Electrical Engineer at SSOE, you'll work alongside experienced engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary design teams to develop electrical designs for tool installations, power distribution, cleanroom environments, and facility upgrades that enable next-generation technology manufacturing. In this role, you will be involved in electrical calculations, focusing on low to medium voltage environments. The ideal candidate possesses experience with distribution panel loading, short circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, conduit and conductor sizing, and cable tray fills. This position is an onsite role that will require you to work onsite each day and be located in the N. Phoenix, AZ area. Remote or hybrid work arrangements for this role are not available.

Responsibilities
  • Generate comprehensive technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models aligned with both industry standards, client requirements, and electrical engineering best practices.
  • Develop detailed electrical drawings and technical documentation that support areas such as process equipment installation design packages, tool hookup design, subfab rack and lateral design, and cleanroom and facility modification support.
  • Determine conduit and conductor sizing, meticulously accounting for current loads and environmental variables.
  • Assess cable tray fills methodically to guarantee proper cable management, organization, and future scalability.
  • Perform detailed short circuit calculations to accurately determine fault currents, select appropriate protective devices, and ensure system safety.
  • Perform precise voltage drop calculations to ensure electrical system stability and compliance with industry standards.
  • Ensure all electrical designs rigorously comply with and exceed local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations to guarantee safety and quality.
  • Apply established design techniques and exercises discernment in adapting and modifying design concepts as needed. Uphold quality control by adhering to company and team design and CAD standards.
  • Will work with Sr. Engineers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders on specific assigned objectives, complex features, and aid in deriving possible solutions to unusual problems.
  • Foster collaboration, communication, strategy, and support within your team, multidisciplinary groups (Mechanical, Structural, Process/Chemical, Architectural, etc.), and inter-company teams to optimize efficiency, quality, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct field verifications and site walks to identify, validate, resolve, and integrate solutions into design packages. Resolve design issues on-site during construction if necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, qualifying candidate for professional engineering licensure in Arizona.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) exam, with a focus on electrical engineering principles, is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical design drafting is required. Experience with other tools such as Revit, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, and/or EasyPower is a plus.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., National Electric Code, NFPA, etc.).
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information and design concepts to project managers, contractors, and cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Salary Range: $68,000 - $98,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
