Job summary

OGE Energy Corp. in Oklahoma City seeks an engineer to support design and construction of new facilities and maintain existing operations.

You will perform analyses, develop plans, and provide reports on assigned tasks, working under supervision while resolving routine issues. The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering or PE and 2 years of related experience; DCS/PLC experience and strong problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or PE with 2 years related experience (counted at half rate).
• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and PLCs preferred.
• Experience providing lifecycle support for generation assets and balance-of-plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assists upper level engineers while developing specialized engineering skills.

Technically involved in the resolution of equipment and operational problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, performing design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project..

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

• General responsibilities with standardized processes. Works under limited supervision. Resolves routine questions and problems. Refers the more complex issues to higher levels. Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job. Some latitude for deviation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assists upper level engineers as directed while developing specialized engineering skills.
• Prepares engineering analysis for small/routine projects to include: preliminary design, calculation, life cycle cost and equipment selection.
• Supports company safety programs and initiatives by following all EHS and Operating procedures and adhering to established design standards.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards and good engineering practices.
• Reviews and critiques proposed changes to engineering standards, policies and guidelines.
• Prepare and interpret schematics, drawings, layouts and other visual aids.
• Conducts surveys to gather field data.
• Coordinates the activities of the design and construction teams.
• Manages budgets, schedules, and resources for small to medium sized projects.
• Ensures construction documentation and manifest process has completed in accordance with standards.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or PE, And 2 years related engineering experience (which may include non-Engineer experience such as Engineering Internship, Design, Drafting, and Engineering Tech experience. This type of experience will be counted at half rate.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
• Experience providing lifecycle support for generation assets and associated balance-of-plant equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
• May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
• May be required to work non-standard hours, holidays, and schedules.
• May be required to work non-standard work schedules.
