Job summary

Vanderweil Engineers, a national engineering firm, seeks an Electrical Engineer in our Miami, FL office. You will design building electrical systems and collaborate with architects and other engineers on diverse projects, from offices to data centers. Proficiency in Revit is required, with AutoCAD and design software experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • PE preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical building systems design, within an MEP consulting environment.
  • Experience working on commercial, academic, government, or science & technology projects is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit is required. Use of AutoCAD and electrical design calculation software (e.g., AGI 32, SKM, ETAP, EasyPower) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination workflows and tools like Autodesk Construction Cloud and Navisworks.
  • Organizational and time-management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design the electrical power distribution, lighting, and emergency/standby power systems in accordance with NEC codes and standards.
  • Develop legends, site plans, lighting plans, power plans, one-lines, riser diagrams, details, and schedules.
  • Coordinate design with internal teams (mechanical, plumbing, sustainability) and external stakeholders (architects, contractors, consultants).
  • Serve as design engineer on a variety of projects from new construction to renovations (offices, labs, data centers, academic, high-rise residential, hotels, healthcare, industrial, government).
  • Perform Construction Administration tasks such as field visits, RFIs, and shop drawing reviews.

What You will Achieve

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be designing the building infrastructure for various project types. Expand your skillset and have a voice by working outside the box with the way we approach projects at Vanderweil.

Position Overview
  • We are looking for someone who works well in a team environment and is willing to learn from others. Experience with Revit is an essential part of this role.
  • .You will work as part of a project team to develop the project documents for large-scale, complex building projects, corroborate/coordinate with other design team members including Architect, Mechanical, Plumbing or Structural engineers to ensure electrical systems are integrated and coordinated with the project’s goals.
  • Serve as design engineer on a variety of projects from new construction to renovations from schematic design to construction. Project types include but are not limited to office buildings, labs, data centers, academic, high rise residential, hotels, health care, industrial, financial, government.
  • Be familiar with associated Codes and Standards applicable to the project.
  • Responsible for the design of power distribution, lighting, emergency and standby power supply in accordance with all applicable NEC codes and standards.
  • Develop legends, site plans, lighting plans, power plans, one-lines, riser diagrams, details, various schedules such as panelboard schedules and mechanical schedules as well as load calculations.
  • Coordinate design with internal teams (mechanical, plumbing, sustainability) and external stakeholders (architects, contractors, consultants).
  • Use our MEP coordination checklist to facilitate coordination with other trades for circuiting the mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Use our Architectural coordination checklist to facilitate coordination with the Architect for coordinating power connections to equipment specified by others.
  • Perform Construction Administration tasks such as field visits and subsequent issuance of field reports, responding to RFIs and reviewing shop drawings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • PE preferred.
  • 7 plus years of experience in electrical building systems design, within an MEP consulting environment.
  • Experience working on commercial, academic, government, or science & technology projects is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit is required. Use of AutoCAD and electrical design calculation software (e.g., AGI 32, SKM, ETAP, EasyPower) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination workflows and tools like Autodesk Construction Cloud and Navisworks.

The total compensation that we expect to pay for this position is dependent on years of experience, licensure, education, geographic location, and project portfolio but expected to be in the $100,000 to $130,000 range
