Job summary

Vanderweil Engineers in Boston, MA is seeking an Electrical Designer to design the building infrastructure for large mission-critical data center projects and related facilities, including EV & PV distribution, clean rooms, labs, and hi-rises with sustainable goals.

You will develop power distribution designs, one-line diagrams, load calculations, and construction documents while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of related experience.
• Revit experience is a plus.
• NEC, IBC and IECC knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate electrical power distribution designs for mission-critical facilities, including UPS systems, standby generators, PDUs, switchgear, and related infrastructure.
• Produce one-line diagrams, electrical plans, load calculations, equipment layouts, and construction documents.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and vendors to integrate electrical systems into data center projects.
• Assist with construction administration, RFIs, submittals, site visits and commissioning support.

As an Electrical Designer, you will be designing the building infrastructure for large scale mission critical data center projects or unique projects involving EV & PV Distribution, clean rooms, labs, or commercial hi-rises with integrated sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate electrical power distribution designs for mission-critical facilities, including UPS systems, standby generators, PDUs, switchgear, and associated infrastructure to support high-availability operations.
• Produce one-line diagrams, electrical plans, load calculations, equipment layouts, and construction documents while ensuring compliance with applicable codes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, and stakeholders to integrate electrical systems into complex data center and critical environment projects, supporting design reviews, equipment selection, and technical problem-solving.
• Assist with construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, conducting site visits, and supporting commissioning efforts to verify system performance, reliability, and operational readiness.
• 4+ years of related experience
• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
• Revit is a plus
• NEC, IBC and IECC are a plus
• SKM is a plus

Flexible & Hybrid Culture

The compensation range is $85,000 - $105,000 plus bonus eligible pending years of experience, professional licensure and education.
