Job summary

Iconica in Madison seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical system design for commercial building projects, collaborating with architecture and construction teams to deliver on schedule and within budget.

You will develop schematic design through construction documents, perform code compliance calculations, and provide mentorship to other engineers and designers while ensuring high-quality, coordinated deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an accredited university.
• 8+ years of commercial electrical design and production experience, including conceptual design, schematic design, construction documents, and construction administration
• Experience designing electrical building systems, including lighting and power distribution systems
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration
• Proficiency with Revit and BIM tools
• Strong interest in the design-build approach and collaborating with architectural and construction professionals
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
• Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
• Initiative, curiosity, and an eagerness to learn
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical system design for commercial building projects, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, security and access control, and communication systems
• Provide leadership and coordination with project team members from project inception through completion
• Develop schematic design, design development, and construction drawings and documents
• Perform required design and code compliance calculations
• Collaborate with architectural and construction teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget
• Review shop drawings and respond to construction-related questions
• Perform site inspections and observe field construction at key project milestones
• Verify completed systems meet design and performance requirements
• Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers and designers
