Job description

Invariant Corporation is seeking a talented and motivated electrical engineer to support upcoming and anticipated defense programs. You will lead the electrical engineering effort for a complex development program, owning the electrical architecture across scope, from early concept through integration, test, qualification, and fielded configuration. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of hands‑on experience in electrical engineering roles, including system integration, verification testing, and circuit/cable/harness design for rugged military environments. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to validate design performance, troubleshoot issues, and support deployment of mission‑critical defense systems.

Duties Include:
  • Develop and control the program’s top‑level electrical design approach, including power architecture, interconnect strategy, grounding/bonding, signal integrity, interfaces.
  • Lead electro‑mechanical integration, and subsystem electrical allocations.
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of PCBs and FPGA‑based systems ensuring project milestones are met on time and within budget
  • Partner closely with systems, mechanical, software, test, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure the electrical design is not developed in isolation, but is fully aligned to packaging, thermal, timing, controls, ordnance interface, and mission performance constraints.
  • Participate in failure analysis, root cause determination, and corrective actions.
  • Design and review cable and harness assemblies for use in military systems, including proper shielding, grounding, and connector selection.
  • Support and optimize engineering processes, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistent quality and reliability.
  • Drive development of electrical requirements, interface definitions, schematics, cable/harness designs, ICDs, and design standards, ensuring full traceability from mission need to implementation and verification
  • Act as a key advisor on electronic design and system integration challenges.
  • Familiarity with lab test environment and equipment such as, but not limited to DMMs, oscilloscopes, function/pulse generators, power supplies and spectrum analyzers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • At least 6+ years of experience in electrical engineering roles supporting DoW or aerospace systems.
  • Proficiency with NFPA 70/NEC, ASME Y14.100 and generating detailed documentation of cable assemblies and electromechanical equipment, including test set and breakout boxes.
  • Demonstrated experience with verification testing to MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-810, and similar specifications.
  • Hands‑on experience with system integration and test at the platform or subsystem level.
  • Working knowledge of circuit, cable, and harness design, including familiarity with drawings, wire selection, shielding, military connectors, circuit theory, signal processing, and embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in test instrumentation, data acquisition, and troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience in Altium, AutoCAD, MS Office Suite and Document Management Systems (EDMS)
  • Excellent verbal and written skills for cross‑functional coordination within engineering.
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to troubleshoot data inaccuracies and process bottlenecks.
  • Experience with government programs, projects, or platforms.Support customer data administration by ensuring accuracy of Manufacturer Lists (AML), Bills of Materials (BOM), and complex Engineering Change Orders (ECO) into PLM systems.
  • Knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various engineering departments/disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology, avionics) and understanding of how their products/processes affect one another and impact non‑engineering processes (e.g., operations, logistics, business).
Requires ability to:
  • Work well in a small, fast‑paced and mission‑driven environment with co‑workers, management, and customers
  • Work independently or in collaboration with other engineers, designers and configuration management.
  • Open to continuous improvement. Comfortable with challenging the status quo while maintaining team synergy working towards a common goal.
  • Office environment or remote work.
  • Vision to read printed materials and/or computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate is required.
