THE ROLE:
Job Duties:
- Processing residential Distribution Interconnection applications for an electric utility, including handling a large volume of daily inquiries such as status updates, portal issues, and application deficiencies.
- Processing and technical screening of applications from 0 to 10 MW, primarily solar, as per the Small Generator Interconnection Procedure (SGIP).
- Assisting in initial high-level inquiries for distribution interconnection projects.
- Leading in crucial monthly reporting, such as metrics for less than 50kW, greater than 50kW, and reporting to the NYS DPS Inventory.
- Assisting in Net Meter violation and scheduling with contractors.
- Managing project field meetings with interconnection customers.
- Performing on-site witness testing as per the SGIP tariff for projects interconnecting to LIPA Distribution System on Long Island and in the Rockaways.
- Responding to customer inquiries regarding the SGIP process and other distribution interconnection application questions.
- Managing day-to-day operational interface and administration of operating instructions with existing Distributed Energy Resources.
- Overseeing operational aspects of parallel resources interconnected to the LIPA Distribution System.
- Participating in monthly technical and policy-related DPS interconnection forums.
- Managing project accounting and financial aspects as per technical studies and SGIP compliance.
- Maintaining project accounting in SAP and collaborating with cost analysts.
- Assisting cost engineers with monthly cost data and reports.
- Providing project forecasts and status reports.
- Attending meetings and providing input as needed.
- Collaborating with cost analysts to analyze contractor invoices and change orders concerning project progress and budget impact.
Required Qualifications:
- Leadership qualities, strong technical background, and excellent customer service skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, plus 1-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in electric utility power engineering.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience in the electric utility industry in transmission or distribution roles.
- Understanding of the SGIP tariff.
- Experience with renewable and non-renewable distributed energy resources interconnections.
Candidates must be within the tristate area and able to attend on-site meetings and witness tests about 10% of the time. Most work is remote, with some onsite training.
