Job description

Overview

Systems Technology Inc. (STI) is a private, employee‑owned company (ESOP) that provides engineering consulting and product development with a focus on safety. We are a small company that enjoys many of the perks of start‑ups, but we have been in business for over sixty years and have an aggressive growth plan. Working at STI means being a key contributor while collaborating with a team that spans the range of experience from recent graduates to 20+ years tenure.

Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineer designs, develops, and validates embedded electronics hardware for aerospace, defense, and advanced autonomy applications. This role spans the full hardware development lifecycle — from requirements capture and schematic design through PCB layout, board bring‑up, and fielded system support. You’ll work closely with software and systems engineers, contribute to technical documentation and reporting, and grow into broader program ownership over time.

  • Design complex multilayer PCB assemblies for embedded systems used in aerospace, UAS, and defense applications
  • Develop schematics and manage PCB layout using KiCad, Altium, or similar EDA tools
  • Select and integrate sensors including IMUs, magnetometers, pressure sensors, GNSS receivers, and ADCs
  • Design power supply circuitry including switching regulators and LDOs
  • Implement and debug high‑speed digital interfaces including USB, SPI, and CAN/CAN‑FD
  • Perform board bring‑up, hardware debugging, and validation testing
  • Develop test protocols and procedures; collect, analyze, and document results in technical reports
  • Apply environmental, vibration, and reliability considerations appropriate for aerospace or defense electronics
  • Support business development activities and customer interfacing with project team support
Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of embedded electronics design experience
  • Experience with STM32 microcontrollers, preferably the STM32H7 family
  • Experience with schematic development and PCB layout using KiCad, Altium, or similar EDA tools
  • Experience designing high‑speed digital circuits including USB, SPI, and CAN/CAN‑FD
  • Experience with power supply design including switching regulators and LDOs
  • Experience selecting, integrating, and debugging sensors such as IMUs, magnetometers, pressure sensors, GNSS receivers, and ADCs
  • Experience with board bring‑up and hardware debugging
  • Familiarity with environmental, vibration, and reliability considerations for aerospace or industrial electronics
Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience with UAS flight control systems, avionics, robotics, automotive, or similar embedded systems
  • Experience with embedded software development in C/C++
