Job summary

Aegis Worldwide in Elmwood Park, IL is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team. You will support electrical control system design for industrial equipment and automated machinery, focusing on control panels, AC/DC circuits, schematics, BOMs, and electrical calculations.

This hands-on role involves collaborating with electricians, mechanical engineers, and controls engineers, taking ownership of projects with limited direction, and occasional travel to manufacturing

Qualifications

• 1+ year electrical engineering or design experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
• Experience designing control panels for machinery, automation, or industrial equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics.
• Experience designing AC and DC power/control circuits.
• Experience creating and maintaining electrical BOMs.
• Ability to perform electrical calculations, including: FLA, cabinet power calculations, AC/DC analyses.
• Strong Excel skills for calculations and data manipulation.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to join an engineering team supporting the design and development of industrial equipment and automated machinery.

This role will focus on electrical control system design, including control panels, AC/DC electrical systems, schematics, BOMs, electrical calculations, testing, and engineering changes. The ideal candidate is hands-on, comfortable working directly with manufacturing and engineering teams, and able to take ownership of projects with limited direction.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 1+ year of electrical engineering or electrical design experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred
• Strong, hands-on experience with AutoCAD Electrical
• Experience designing electrical control panels or control cabinets for machinery, automation, or industrial equipment
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics
• Experience designing AC and DC power/control circuits
• Experience creating and maintaining electrical BOMs
• Ability to perform electrical calculations, including:
• Full-load amperage (FLA)
• Control cabinet power calculations
• High- and low-power AC/DC analysis
• Strong Excel skills for calculations and data manipulation
• Comfortable working directly with electricians, mechanical engineers, controls engineers, and other electrical engineers
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Able to travel occasionally and have or obtain the necessary travel documentation/passport

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience with UL standards and compliance, particularly industrial control panels
• Experience ensuring electrical components and panel designs meet UL requirements
• Electrical design experience with:
• Packaging machinery
• OEM equipment
• Custom machine building
• Experience designing complete control cabinets from component selection through finished electrical drawings
• Experience selecting electrical components such as:
• Breakers
• Contactors
• Relays
• Power supplies
• Disconnects
• VFDs
