Job summary

CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer for a growing industrial manufacturer to design, test, and startup engineered electrical equipment.

You will develop control drawings, configure PLCs and devices, troubleshoot systems, and work with engineering, production, and field teams to move designs from concept through startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in electrical controls, automation, design, or systems integration.
• Hands-on experience designing electrical control systems.
• Experience with control schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Familiarity with Modbus or EtherNet/IP and industrial communications.

$140,000–$160,000 Base and up to 30% bonus

CornerStone Professional Placement is partnering with a growing industrial manufacturer seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to support the design, testing, and startup of engineered electrical equipment.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can work across electrical design and controls. You'll develop control drawings and documentation, configure control devices and logic, troubleshoot communication issues, and support equipment through testing and field startup.

What You'll Do

• Develop electrical control schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and related design documentation
• Create and maintain bills of material, I/O documentation, and production-ready drawing packages
• Design and validate control logic including sequencing, interlocks, alarms, and safety-related functions
• Configure programmable relays and other industrial control devices
• Support electrical and functional testing during manufacturing
• Troubleshoot control, wiring, communication, and equipment-performance issues
• Work closely with engineering, production, and field teams to resolve design and startup issues
• Participate in field commissioning and equipment startup
• Improve designs for reliability, ease of manufacturing, and maintainability
• Ensure designs meet applicable electrical codes, safety requirements, and industry standards

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in electrical controls, automation, electrical design, or systems integration
• Hands-on experience designing electrical control systems or low-voltage electrical equipment
• Experience developing schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
• Experience with electrical CAD software such as SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar
• Understanding of relay logic, sequencing, interlocks, or programmable control systems
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus or EtherNet/IP
• Experience testing and troubleshooting electrical or automated equipment
• Ability to work closely with manufacturing and field personnel to take designs from concept through startup
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline

Preferred Experience

• Electrical distribution equipment, switchgear, switchboards, industrial control panels, or similar engineered products
• UL-listed electrical manufacturing environments
• UL 508A, UL 891, NEC Article 409, or related electrical standards
• Equipment commissioning or field startup
• Industrial or large-scale infrastructure projects
