Job summary

Node.Digital is seeking an Electrical Engineer based in Elizabeth City, NC, to provide support for the USCG Aviation Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS). The role involves engineering design and analysis of Government aircraft wiring, ensuring compliance with safety and reliability standards.

Electrical Engineer
Location

Elizabeth City, NC

Eligibility

US Citizenship required. Ability to acquire a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineer shall support USCG Aviation Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS) to increase aircraft reliability and safety of flight and apply electrical engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, and evaluate airborne platform wiring and electronics. Tasking includes, but is not limited to:

  • Perform electrical engineering design and analysis of Government aircraft wiring, including completion of Engineering Service Requests (ESR).
  • Review engineering drawings and technical data for compliance with USCG and other Government Agencies (OGA).
  • Review industry standards (e.g., NA VAIR 01-IA-505 and SAE AS50881) for safety, reliability, and maintainability; ensure aviation systems meet intended design performance.
  • Provide electrical expertise as a USCG engineering authority and resource.
  • Support wiring harness design, installation, modification, corrosion prevention, QA, maintenance, and testing.
  • Compute aircraft electrical load analysis for system modifications and new electrical equipment installation.
  • Investigate failures of USCG aircraft wiring, electrical, and corrosion discrepancies, and institute corrective design changes and maintenance procedures.
  • Work with the Wiring Program Manager to monitor external military and civilian markets to research, prototype, and promote new and improved EWIS products for potential USCG applicability, improving wiring awareness and fleet readiness.
  • Perform EWIS failure analysis, life limit analysis (Reliability Centered Maintenance), and institute corrective design changes and maintenance procedures.
  • Identify electrical testing parameters for USCG assets.
  • Collaborate with ASB wiring configuration and Automatic Circuit Analysis Test System (ACATS) personnel to support Product Line wiring requirements.
  • Research, analyze, develop, and implement new EWIS products and tools to support wiring maintainers in improving aircraft reliability.
  • Record and track tasking.
  • Attend meetings as required pertaining to tasks identified.
  • Travel as required for tasking JAW 11.0 of the contract.
  • Provide wiring presentations to inform USCG personnel.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Skilled in the use of standard and specialized electrical and electronic tools and equipment for aviation wiring, regardless of aircraft type.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient PC skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • In-depth knowledge of NA VAIR 01-IA-505 series, NA VAIR 01-IA509-3, and SAE AS50881.
  • Solid knowledge of EMI/EMC concerns per MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464.
  • Experience in aircraft electrical load and power source capacity analysis per MIL-STD-704 and MIL-E-7016.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum (10) years of experience in aviation (rotary and/or fixed wing aircraft) electrical engineering.
Travel Requirement

The Contractor may be required to travel within the Continental U.S. (CONUS), Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico. Travel is normally one or two trips per year.

Clearance Requirement

Team Member must complete background investigation of at least a Tier I (formerly NACI) to comply with the Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD)-12.
