Job summary

VisionNav Robotics in Detroit is seeking an Electrical Test Engineer to validate and troubleshoot electrical and control systems for AGV products. You will focus on testing components, wiring, sensors, PLC-controlled systems, I/O signals, and related hardware to ensure safe, reliable operation.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years in an electrical engineering role, with knowledge of MATLAB, SolidWorks, and PLCs, and the ability to travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of industrial electrical engineering experience.
  • Strong collaboration and hands-on problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and complete AGV electrical testing across validation stages.
  • Develop and optimize test plans and test cases for system integration.
  • Test power distribution, sensors, encoders, motors, drives, PLCs, I/O signals, and safety circuits.
  • Identify, reproduce, analyze, and troubleshoot issues; perform initial root-cause analysis.
  • Adjust inverter driver parameters and improve testing methods based on field feedback.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, controls, mechanical, and application teams to improve reliability.

Job description

We are seeking an Electrical Test Engineer to join our Testing team and support the validation and troubleshooting of electrical and control systems for our AGV products. This role will focus on testing electrical components, wiring, sensors, PLC-controlled systems, I/O signals, and other vehicle control hardware to ensure product functionality, reliability, and safety. The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of professional experience in an electrical-related engineering role, with a solid understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and hands-on troubleshooting. Experience with PLCs, industrial automation, robotics, AGVs, or other automated equipment is highly preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or above, in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of industrial experience in an electrical-related engineer role.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Responsible, and willing to learn, with a strong ability to handle new technical concepts quickly and contribute in a hands-on, collaborative environment.
  • Basic MATLAB, SolidWorks and PLC knowledge or experience (development, troubleshooting or analysis).
  • Ability to travel to or commute between client’s project locations as needed.
  • Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AGV/AMR, robotics, industrial automation, or other automated material handling systems.
  • Experience with system integration, commissioning, verification, or validation testing in an industrial or robotics environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently plan, execute, and complete functional, stability, system-level, and electrical testing for AGVs and related components throughout product validation and pre-delivery stages.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize test plans and test cases, including specialized testing, system integration testing, abnormal-condition testing, and failure scenario validation based on product requirements and field issues.
  • Focus on the validation and troubleshooting of AGV electrical and control systems, including power distribution, sensors, encoders, motors, drives, PLCs, I/O signals, wiring, and safety circuits.
  • Identify, reproduce, analyze, and track electrical or control-related issues found during testing and field deployment, and independently perform initial troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Adjust inverter driver parameters and optimize testing methods and standards based on test objectives and field feedback.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, controls, mechanical, and application engineering teams to resolve technical issues and continuously improve testing methods, test coverage, quality standards, and overall product reliability.
  • Troubleshoot on‑site technical issues, track test results and field problems, and work closely with researchers and engineers to improve testing methods, quality standards, and overall product reliability.
