Job summary

Renewyx LLC in Chicago is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead the design of C&I solar and battery storage projects. You will own the electrical design, model systems in PVsyst/Helioscope, and develop single-line diagrams and calculations for permits and interconnection packages.

The role partners with project managers, engineers and installation crews to ensure designs translate cleanly to on-site construction, with a focus on quality, accuracy, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in electrical engineering and hands-on C&I solar and storage design experience.

Job description

Renewyx is representing a well-established commercial and industrial solar and energy storage EPC contractor in Chicago. They design, engineer, build and maintain solar, BESS, and microgrid projects, and they are adding to their design team.

They are seeking an electrical engineer to join their design team in the Chicago area. You will own the electrical design for C&I solar and battery storage projects. That means modelling systems in PVsyst or Helioscope, building single-line diagrams and calculations, and preparing the permit and interconnection packages submitted to utilities and building departments. You will work closely with project managers, engineers and installation crews, so you will be the person who turns the design into something the field can build.

An electrical engineering degree and hands-on C&I solar and storage design experience are firm requirements for this role. The team needs an engineer who has produced code-compliant electrical designs for these projects and can see them through to the build.

This is a solid opportunity for an electrical engineer who wants to see their work through to construction. You will carry projects from site surveys and permit drawings through to record drawings after install.

The ideal candidate should have the following:

• Hands-on electrical design experience on C&I solar and BESS projects
• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, with FE or EIT status ideal and a PE license a bonus
• Strong AutoCAD skills and modelling experience in PVsyst or Helioscope
• A track record of producing single-line diagrams, calculations and permit and interconnection packages
• Working knowledge of voltage drop, ampacity and short circuit calculations, with studies experience in ETAP, SKM or CYMCAP a plus
• Comfort working with project managers, engineers and installation crews, including shop drawings and field markups
• A high focus on quality and detail, and comfort working to deadlines
• Based in the Chicago area, with hybrid in-office working
