Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in the Indianapolis office. You will design electrical systems for data centers and other facilities, coordinating with clients, project managers, architects, and other engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering (Electrical emphasis).
  • Experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
  • PE license recognized by licensing board (example: PE).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit and related tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed design and coordination of facilities with team members.
  • Prepare construction documents with BIM/CADD platforms.
  • Edit and prepare design specifications.
  • Reviewing fee estimates and cost opinions and writing technical documents.
  • Perform QA/QC review of construction documents and technical reports.
  • Selecting equipment using vendor software and communicating with sales reps.
  • Tracking and meeting design budgets.
  • Performing load calculations.
  • Attending and leading design meetings with other team members.
  • Providing construction administration services throughout all phases of construction.
  • Visit project sites as requested or contractually required to monitor construction progress and prepare field reports.
  • Perform field work and verification of existing conditions where required.

HDR is seeking to hire an Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services (BES) team in the Indianapolis office. Our team is looking for a candidate to design data centers for the top technology companies in the world. This person will have the opportunity to partner within our other market sectors including but not limited to Water/Wastewater, Federal, Industrial, and Commercial projects. We have a team with diverse experience and are actively seeking candidates with experience within one or more of the markets we serve. This individual should also have a desire to mentor and train younger electrical engineers.

Primary Responsibilities

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the electrical design through all phases of the project. This will include coordinating and working closely with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing members, and all other team members. You will be responsible for developing construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and performing RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigation and overall construction administration. Passion, self-motivation, and strong leadership skills are a must to deliver technically excellent design solutions for our clients.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Chicago: $92,862 - $132,660
