Job summary

Bosch Charleston Plant is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for Facilities to design and manage building and utility systems in a dynamic environment. You will oversee power distribution, safety compliance, and coordination with contractors across office and field settings.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years in facilities engineering, with SAP knowledge preferred. Occasional overtime and on-site work are expected, with a strong emphasis on safety and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of demonstrable experience in a Facilities and Electrical Engineering role.
  • Project management skills involving power distribution systems (high, medium and low voltage).
  • Knowledge of US and SC Building/Electrical Codes and Bosch FCM facility requirements.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, OSHA, NEC and related standards.
  • Self-starting, results oriented, flexible, team player with strong communication.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Office and field work with occasional lifting up to 25 pounds and use of PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Design or management of building and utility design.
  • Review annual thermal imaging of electrical systems.
  • Maintenance of emergency power systems including generators and transfer switches.
  • Annual maintenance of power distribution per NFPA/FM guidelines.
  • Coordinate contractor activities focusing on safety, quality, cost and schedule.
  • Lead projects to improve cost, quality, delivery and safety of the site.
  • Develop facility strategies for equipment layouts and utility planning.
  • Manage projects for the Facilities Construction and Maintenance (FCM) Team.
  • Procure equipment, materials and services and coordinate RFQs with purchasing.
  • Maintain records of construction documents and project communications.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering Degree required.
  • 5+ year demonstrable experience in a Facilities and Electrical Engineering role.
  • Project Management skills involving power distribution systems (high, medium and low voltage)

  • Knowledge and experience with current technology, codes, and laws applicable to facilities engineering, construction, and maintenance to include NFPA, OSHA, NEC.

  • The job will require a combination of office and field work. Normal office environment operating typical office machinery, such as laptop, copy machine and fax machine. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds. Personal protection equipment required depending on working area (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields).
Essential Functions:
  • Design or management of building and utility design.
  • Review annual thermal imaging of electrical systems.
  • Maintenance of emergency power systems including generators, automatic transfer switches and universal power supplies.
  • Annual maintenance activities of power distribution including transformer DGA, Substation secondary injection testing, lubrication and exercising according to NFPA 69 and FM Global guidelines.
  • Utilities planning to ensure proper supply for new equipment.
  • Maintain breaker panel schedules and update as circuits change
  • Responsible for the value stream mapping and process flow oriented to power distribution network.
  • Develop and maintain facility strategies for equipment, layouts, labor and material flow to meet strategic goals; including utility planning.
  • Manages projects as needed for the Facilities Construction and Maintenance (FCM) Team.
  • Coordinate contractor activities toward completion of tasks focusing on quality, cost, and timely completion.
  • Lead projects to improve cost, quality, delivery and safety of site and support CIP activities.
  • Understands Bosch and Regional safety rules and promotes a safety first environment.
  • Provide oversight of contractors to ensure conformance to Bosch, OSHA, NFPA, ICC, and safety requirements.
  • Perform and/or oversee planning, design, estimating, and execution of complex projects related to: facilities maintenance, renovation and restoration, production equipment installation, relocation, and removal.
  • Develop requests for quotes (RFQ) in coordination with purchasing department.
  • Procure equipment, materials, and construction services by contract or use of in-house resources.
  • Schedule/coordinate project phasing, outages and disruptions.
  • Recommend design modifications when field conditions warrant.
  • Perform continual on-site inspection of construction activities and follow-up with customers throughout project to ensure safety, quality, timeliness, and budget expectations are met.
  • Conduct final project walk-through with customer.
  • Maintain records of construction documents to include budgets, communications, contracts, change orders, drawings/specifications, meetings, invoices, payments, purchase orders, etc.
General FCM Activities
  • Maintain budget control for expenditures (capital and expense) related to Electrical Repairs and Maintenance
  • Participate in development and achievement of departmental goals and objectives, including active participation in facilities emergency response team.
  • Develop and maintain facility strategies for proper building value preservation plan.
  • Oversee projects to improve safety, including working closely with Health, Safety, and Environmental department.
  • Performs Audits and Gemba walks to ensure services are being provided by FCM team as needed
  • Promotes technology and digitalization and looks to improve and optimize processes.
  • Supports Global Real Estate (GR) organization and participates in GR events as needed.
  • Participate in development and achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Assist Energy Engineer with CO2 reduction and Energy Management Analysis of energy usage and recommendation for cost improvement.
  • Assist Energy Engineer with analysis of energy usage for cost improvement.
  • Effective use of Bosch maintenance best practices.
  • All other tasks as assigned.
