Job summary

PTS Advance is seeking an experienced Electrical / EIC Engineer III/IV to join its Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) engineering group in the United States. Responsibilities

• Lead and execute electrical engineering activities for industrial, utility, energy, and infrastructure projects.
• Develop and review MV and LV power distribution systems.
• Prepare and review SLDs, equipment layouts, cable schedules, grounding, lighting, MCCs, and VFD applications.
• Perform power system studies: Load flow, motor starting, arc flash, harmonics.
• Develop equipment specs, RFQs, bid evaluations, and technical recommendations.
• Coordinate interconnection requirements and system integration.
• Review vendor documentation and incorporate requirements into deliverables.
• Lead or support instrumentation and controls for industrial facilities.
• Develop instrument indexes, data sheets, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, control narratives, and I/O drawings.
• Review P&IDs for instrumentation and controls alignment.
• Support procurement and integration of vendor packages.
• Coordinate industrial networking, communications, automation, and SCADA requirements.
• Serve as Lead EIC Engineer on multidisciplinary projects and provide technical direction.
• Mentor engineers and ensure quality of deliverables.
• Develop scopes of work, estimates, schedules, and resource plans.
• Promote engineering standards and best practices across projects.

Our client, a growing engineering and EPC organization supporting industrial, utility, energy, and infrastructure projects, is seeking an experienced Electrical / EIC Engineer III or IV to join its Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) engineering group.

This position will provide technical leadership across electrical power systems, instrumentation, controls, automation, and protection and control engineering. The Engineer will support projects throughout the full lifecycle, including conceptual design, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.

The successful candidate will serve as a technical resource and, depending on experience level, may act as Lead EIC Engineer or Engineer of Record for multidisciplinary projects. The position also offers opportunities to mentor engineering staff, interface directly with clients, support proposals, and contribute to the continued development of engineering standards and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Engineering

• Lead and execute electrical engineering activities for industrial, utility, energy, and infrastructure projects.
• Develop and review medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) power distribution systems.
• Prepare and review single-line diagrams, electrical equipment layouts, cable schedules, cable routing, grounding and bonding systems, lighting systems, MCC designs, emergency/standby power systems, and VFD applications.
• Perform and/or review power system studies, including:
• Load flow
• Motor starting
• Arc flash hazard analysis
• Harmonic analysis
• Develop electrical equipment specifications, RFQ packages, bid evaluations, and technical recommendations.
• Coordinate utility interconnection requirements and electrical system integration.
• Review vendor documentation and incorporate equipment requirements into engineering deliverables.

Instrumentation & Controls

• Lead or support instrumentation and controls engineering for industrial and utility facilities.
• Develop and review instrument indexes, data sheets, installation details, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, control narratives, cause-and-effect matrices, control system architecture drawings, and instrument location plans.
• Review P&IDs to ensure instrumentation and controls requirements are properly incorporated.
• Support specification and selection of field instrumentation for pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical, and specialty applications.
• Develop control philosophies and operational strategies.
• Coordinate instrumentation procurement and integration of vendor packages.
• Support industrial networking, communications, automation, and SCADA/control system requirements.

Technical & Project Leadership

• Serve as Lead EIC Engineer on assigned multidisciplinary projects, depending on experience.
• Provide technical direction and oversight for electrical, instrumentation, controls, and protection system deliverables.
• Review engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, studies, and procurement packages for technical quality.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, and engineering best practices.
• Serve as Engineer of Record when required and appropriately licensed.
• Develop scopes of work, engineering estimates, schedules, and resource plans.
• Monitor engineering budgets, schedules, deliverables, and project risks.
• Participate in project kickoff meetings, design reviews, and client coordination meetings.
• Serve as a technical point of contact with clients and other engineering disciplines.
• Support proposal development, scope definition, estimating, and technical business development efforts.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, designers, and other technical staff.
• Conduct technical and quality assurance reviews of engineering deliverables.
• Support development and improvement of engineering standards, procedures, templates, and design guides.
• Assist with technical development and onboarding of engineering team members.
• Promote consistency, quality, and engineering best practices across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Approximately 6–13 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong experience with electrical power distribution and/or EIC engineering for industrial, utility, energy, or infrastructure facilities.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or ability to pursue PE licensure within approximately one year of hire.
• Experience leading engineering deliverables and coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, engineers, designers, vendors, and construction personnel.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Significant progressive experience in electrical/EIC engineering and technical project leadership.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex engineering scopes and provide technical oversight of engineering deliverables.
• Experience serving as Lead Engineer and/or Engineer of Record strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and interfacing directly with clients.
