Job summary

Stratos Card in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our hardware team. You will design, prototype, test and qualify PCBAs, and collaborate with firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality and program management.

Requirements include a BS in Electrical Engineering and at least 4 years of relevant hardware experience. Hands-on work with MCU design, embedded systems, BLE, RF and Altium is expected.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 4 years of relevant hardware experience.
  • Minimum 5 years total work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, bring-up and test prototype and production level PCBAs.
  • Ensure PCBAs are designed, produced and documented in line with established methodology, standards and procedures.
  • Perform system integration and debug (requiring a working knowledge of FW and MCU development tools).
  • Assist with early requirements definition; translate product requirements into detailed hardware requirements.
  • Optimize designs for cost (through component selection, etc.) and ease of manufacturing and assembly.
  • Select and qualify components and designs based on specification analysis, component availability, reliability and power consumption.
  • Lead product development and assist in production troubleshooting efforts.
  • Work with cross-functional engineering team including mechanical, firmware, software, manufacturing, and quality and program management.

How You Will Make An Impact

The Electrical Engineer will work with internal and external hardware and firmware resources to evaluate, choose and qualify parts and their related tool environments that will be essential in the design of future versions of our product. You will support the engineering team through electronic design and debug, implementation, and involvement in system development and planning.

A day in the life
  • Design, build, bring-up and test prototype and production level PCBAs.
  • Ensure PCBAs are designed, produced and documented in line with established methodology, standards and procedures and support the formal release of work products (specifications, designs) into use.
  • Perform system integration and debug (requiring a working knowledge of FW and MCU development tools)
  • Assist with early requirements definition; translate product requirements into detailed hardware requirements.
  • Optimize designs for cost (through component selection, etc.) and ease of manufacturing and assembly.
  • Select and qualify components and designs based on specification analysis, component availability, reliability and power consumption.
  • Lead product development and assist in production troubleshooting efforts.
  • Work with cross-functional engineering team including mechanical, firmware, software, manufacturing, and quality and program management.
Your creds
  • Minimum of B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of total work experience; minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience with PCB layout tool (e.g., Altium) and PCB debug.
  • Microcontroller design experience.
  • Embedded system design experience.
  • FPGA/VHDL/Verilog is considered a plus.
  • Comfortable working with little/no supervision.
  • Attention to detail with focus on robustness, scalability and quality of products.
  • Experience working with low power design, Bluetooth low energy, RF design are all considered a plus.
