Job summary

1898 & Co., part of Burns & McDonnell, seeks an Assistant Electrical Engineer to support power system studies for fossil and renewable generation, transmission and distribution projects in Kansas City.

Under supervision, you will assist with life-cycle cost analyses, financial evaluations, and preparation of technical reports and client presentations.

Qualifications include ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree, strong communication, and ability to work analytically; 3.0 GPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting or related degree from an accredited program required.
• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program strongly preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes, interprets, and applies engineering, financial, and economic conditions to client projects.
• Assists with life-cycle cost analyses and capital costs, O&M costs, and economic forecasts.
• Supports power system planning and operations analysis including power flow, stability, and economic dispatch.
• Performs technical and financial studies for utility projects.
• Prepares technical reports and client presentations summarizing results.
